R&T: GT-R vs ZO6 vs 911
|
I have been waiting five months for this! The numbers are still hard to believe but if they are even close to accurate the GT-R is the performance deal of the decade! Maybe now we will sell even more 997TT mods. Thanks Nissan!
Let the bench racing begin :D Rob |
Lap Times:
911 Turbo - 2:02.1 Z06 - 2:02.2 GTR - 1:56.9 Over 5 seconds faster than ZO6 and Turbo... I knew GTR was going to be faster but I wasn't expecting 5 seconds difference. The lap times by Steve Millen. But I am sure someone would still say the "driver didn't know how to drive..." http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...ct_OnTrack.pdf |
Wow it's still not a very good looking car IMO but it's numbers sure look good. They MUST be understating the actual HP and Tq. figures. I wonder what they will dyno at.

I have seen anywhere from 420-445 AWHP from various dynos. You can find them if you search the net. |
tyreeeeeeeeees, please put same slick like tyres on all of them... even tho its heavier and all...Also I bet it saves bunch of time on the DSG shifting. Nevertheless 3 awesome machines... I'd have any of them!:)

Anyone notice it took 2 seconds longer to 120 compared to the Z06. 2 sec! Wow.
|
Wake me up when the car looks better.
The GT-R is faster than the ZO6 which is faster than the Turbo which is faster than the F430, but nearly all of us would agree that the F430 is more preferred than a Turbo which is more preferred than a ZO6 which is more preferred than the GT-R. Does speed around a track have any direct correlation with our preference for automobiles?? I am a huge fan of the GT-R, but I don't imagine any of the Turbo owners will be putting their Porsche's on the auction block in order to purchase the Nissan. Nor do I envision a Chevy guy trading in his muscle car (Z06) for a 6 banger that looks like the illegitimate offspring of a stealth fighter and Altima. The consistency of the GT-R's reviews amazes me. The car is another argument for the superiority of Japanese engineering. (The others can be found at Suzuki, Honda, and Kawasaki.) |

I would say yes. Many people on this forum always said that the 1/4th mile didn't matter and the track is where its at. I also bet a few people will swich to a GT-R, many people won't but I do think a few will. At half the price of a 997, it is quite the bargain. For people who like the Z06 because of its bargain who also may need more than 2 seats and want to drive it year round (snow), this works quite aswell. The 997TT also gets a price raise again next year because of the dollar I am guessing. The 997TT does have its own market but I do think the GT-R will affect it in a small percentage. |
Still looks like Z06 is faster accelerating car... full 2 seconds faster to 120 then a gtr and 1 second smth faster then turbo. so from a roll z06 is still faster due to power to weight... And it looks like Z06 is slower around the track due to the limited traction. Anyway those 3 cars are great each in its own way!

Yeah, the GT-R is faster than the Z06 upto 90-100 MPH and then the Z06 just pulls away. The 997TT is dead even with the GT-R from what I've read between the articles but I think it pulls away slowly. |

I think the key word here is "traction." From Road and Track The Nissan's handling balance is so spectacular that it registered 1.01g on the skidpad and romped through the slalom at an impressive 73.4 mph, about 3 mph faster than the others (and faster than the Ferrari Enzo). |

check this out http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...6911_chart.pdf its a tie to a 60mph which is surprising. 100 mph z06 is faster then gtr and turbo faster then both, but at 120 z06 smacks both of them. so from a roll turbo will leave gtr and z06 will take turbo due to its lighter weight! |
I don't particularly care for the looks of the GT-R but I'd seriously consider one if I could find one @ MSRP.
|
I use to think the GTR would have to be underrated a good deal to be putting up these lap times, but the acceleration tests and trap speeds seem pretty in line with the power and weight.
The type of track will make a difference, but isn't the Z06 normally a good deal faster than the turbo? |
