Road debris
Road debris
I was driving along the highway and heard the sound of crunch of something metal .It sounded like a tailpipe or soda can --small enough not to to see it in the dark but large enough to make a noise like when someone squashes an empty soda can. It bothered me so much that I stopped to look at my car in a lit area and went home and decided to go back.Nothing was there or again it was that small. I saw no rocker dent or scratch . The Techart is quite pliable .I did not crawl under my car but I ask this mainly with those whose cars are lowered . What happends to the undercarriage ? What can I look for ? In most cars even a rock makes a loud cabin noise . It sounds painful enough to want to know .
BTW the car is running fine .
Debris really is an awful obstacle. Imagine if a motorcycle hit it .

had similar experience, only the sound i heard was more like a bang on a metal part under the car (very scary) ... couldnt go back to check as i was on the highway, nor did i check under the car... however a look around the body seemed fine, and no issues were present later... did a full suspension change at the dealership a while later (seperate issue) but nothing was mentioned about damage to car.. so i assumed it ws fine

Hello everyone.
I have not chosen the PCCB option, but still have time to ask the dealer to include it.I do not plan to track my car(exept maybe when I attend Porsche driving school)but will do a lot of driving on country roads where I might encounter various debris:I read that composite brakes can be affected(chipped?)by stray debris vs the standard ones, plus does having less unsprung weight improve the handling?
Thanks for your advice and happy and safe motoring to all

I have the regular brakes but in my first 997S I had ceramics . During that time South Florida faced several huuricane and storm conditions causing a lot of debri and I saw no chipping of the brakes.
The largest problem however was flat tires -especially when repairs began .

I have ceramics and LOVE THEM!!! They were worth every single penny. I went to drive my husband's MB the other day and nearly rear ended someone because I am used to the incredible responsiveness of the pccb's.
I drove my car to court in St. Augustine on friday (1 hour from me) and while cruising down the highway I come up behind a dually pulling an empty new boat trailer. This was on I-95 and it was three lanes across. I see this small cylindrical object come rollingout from under the trailer at about 80 mph traveling across the road so I swerve to avoid running it over. As I pass the trailer I realize that the whole trailer bearing cover and quik grease attachment had fallen off and was rolling north bound. Damn lucky that it didnt hit a rock and go skyward or into the ride.
