Lowering springs, adequate amount but not excessively low...any suggestions?

V cool. How much did that set up end up costing you if you don't mind me asking?Originally Posted by JG 997
I have the techart spring and the car rides awesome.I also did the sway bars, dog bone, tracktion arms the car handles like its on rails.
I have done some research into this area as well. The very best system that I found was from KW. It includes the KW v3 coilover system with an hls hydraulic lift system - it raises and lowers the car on the fly via a button mounted under the steering wheel. It is very expensive (over $10K) but the very best option IMHO. Here is a link:

Problem is they disable PASM to use their coilovers. I agree with you, it is an awesome system but the best setup would be if you could combine damptronics with the hydraulic lift.Originally Posted by Barrister

I recently made the mistake of driving a GT2 and now think even more that the Turbo's suspension is too soft & sloppy for me. The car rolls and pitches too much. Very interested in what you have to say as I am now considering doing exactly what you are doing, spring & sway bar & cup parts.
What do you mean by "traction arms" please? Is that listed any where here http://www.gmgracing.com/porsche_suspension.shtml ? The GMG "package" of spring, sway bar, dog bone, toe steer link, and thrust arm bushing is what I am considering (versus simply trading up the car).
Lastly if you don't mind, who makes the dog bone & sway bar that you are using please?
Thanks in advance.

Next week I'm having my turbo's suspension redone; Project will include:
Damptronics coilovers / Initial springs: Front rate: 285# Rear rate: 570#
Motorsport control arms w/ solid thrust arem bushings / monoball bearing ends
Toe steer kit ERP
Dog bones ERP
My car builder will test the stock TT spring rates during the install. I'll post the results asap.

*PLEASE* report the stock spring rates! Nobody seems to know. I am very curious to see what they are, as a source of reference and comparison against potential spring replacements.
It's good to see that a couple of people have already beat me to it with plan for cup parts replacements. I agree that this suspension needs more tightening than just spring and anti-sway bar.
Who makes the cup components for your mods please? TIA.

Cannga what I meant to say was the trust arm bushing and the sway bars, dog bones are H&R last but not least I also did the Fabspeed exhaust with the 200 cell not to loud perfect for me. good luck
Cup COmponents
The arms are porsche motorsport part #s ( actual cup car parts)
The monoballls / bushings / adjustable links are made by ERP
I'll get all the part #'s together
Been following your posts and eclou's for some time. Went with the damptronics to be able to set ride ht & cornerbalance without the error code / light, probably not the best, but I think with the solid mounts, will definately yeild a lot of road feel, and of course noise as well. We may change spring rates after some testing. I'll post the pics of the project & results when I get a chance. car is goping in fon Friday.
NHIS on Tues with the cup car, can't wiat!! new clutch /flywheel @ 14# total wt. Guard diff.

The person I spoke to at Bilstein suggested the same as what you are doing: If you are going to track the car, or if you simply want something stiffer, change the PSS10's springs.
One more data point from eclou, FWIW: The Techart springs gave him the fastest track time. I called Techart USA to find out the actual spring rates, but they don't want to tell me.
Please do post the motorsport part # and stock spring rates.
You have a cup car?!

[/FONT]Wow I did not know that you are so seriously into car racing. Thanks for sharing the pictures! I have this feeling *I* should be the one following your postings?
What does your mechanic have to say about PASM? I am not sure if it's ideal to change shock's dampening rate, instead of the spring itself, to control pitch and roll. I have this feeling when you do this, the OTHER function of a suspension system, (road) bump control becomes compromised. The dampening setting no longer matches the spring. In PASM's Firm Setting, to me the car feels jittery and I think the rear tends to "walk" (from being air borne?) if there is a road bump in the middle of a high speed curve.
I am thinking one spring, and one matching dampening rate is the way to go.
When are you going to start modding your Turbo? I would be very interested in your impression.

Just got a ride in the GMG Turbo with the level 2 suspension. 20mm drop, rides great in non sport mode, not harsh at all even in sport, very compliant. Much more reduced nose dive vs. stock on normal setting too. Looks like I will be going that route next week.
