Canadian GP - Showers In The Forecast!
Canadian GP - Showers In The Forecast!
Gray day in Montreal today . . . And getting darker by the minute.
Currently watching practice at the Canadian GP. Gets my blood going like nothing else!! The sounds these cars make . . . Nothing matches it.
The walls are closer to the racing line in Montreal than nearly any other circuit of its type. They made them even closer at some points this year because of Kubicza's crash last year. The FIA found that where he crashed the walls were furthest from the track thus increasing the damage. The final chicane - known as "Champions Wall" - is where most of the action happens. It exits on to the final straight towards the start/finish line. Look out for some engine failures because the circuit allows drivers to run full throttle more than any other circuit. This also causes havoc on brakes due to the hairpin corners and that final chicane. The corners favor Lewis but the straights favor the Ferraris. It should be close and will likely be determined in qualifying.
Rain in the forecast means another race with a few safety cars which will put an emphasis on pit and tire strategy. Lewis is great in the rain.
Here is my finishing order prediction:
1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Kimi Raikonnen
3. Robert Kubicza
4. Heikki Kovalainen
5. Nick Heidfeld
6. Felipe Massa
7. Mark Webber
8. Adrian Sutil
Let the debate begin!!
***SPOILER ALERT*** STOP READING NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE PRACTICE SESSION!!!
UPDATE!! Lewis just set P1 for the practice session!! WHOO HOO!

Rain my be the only way to keep the patched track areas from turning the race into a single file parade along the racing line. Terrible job by the organizers to screw up the repair job.
Dana I hope your having fun!

**** SPOILER ALERT***QUALIFYING RESULTS***
The qualifying session today - under sunny skies no less - was extremely exciting. And what a crowd! Anyone who says F1 has no popularity in North America just needed to be at the circuit today.
That last lap where Lewis took the pole position from Kubicza was tremendously exciting. I didn't think anyone would have run a lap under 1:18 but he managed to do it - even after he locked his tires up in the hairpin! Alonso in P4 was a suprise as was Rosberg in P5. The rest of the grid was pretty much as expected.
Track condition appears to be the wild card tomorrow. Will it hold up? It appears to be giving the F2008 fits.
Can't wait until tomorrow. Now it's time to party . . . .

The funny thing is kimi predicted a bmw win this year, i dont think he thought it would've came like this.
No kidding! And I loved Hamilton's excuse when they interviewed him during the race. He said, "All of a sudden they stopped". Well duh, the pit light was still red. I guess he figured it only applied to the other guys leaving the pit, not him. He also said, "It's not exactly a racing incident, just one of those things. It's a lot different if you crash into the wall. This sort of thing happens." Wrong. The end result was exactly the same as crashing into the wall. He was out of the race. Sounds like he was trying to put a little spin on what was just plain sloppiness and deflect the blame. Kind of lame if you ask me.
