What's wrong with my 997?
He got the jump and like other pointed out why would someone in a C6 try you, unless he been dong mods.... When I had a my C2S, I had a civic try me. I was why is he trying to race, unless he had major mods. Well I found out he had everthing done to a civic that you can......
If you were in the C6 and saw a 997TT the only way you'd go for it was if you knew for sure you actually stood a chance right? With that being said it's how/why the C6 would challenge you. A coworker has a C5 that is as stock on the outside as can be but under the hood over 550 horses. If you saw his car next to you, you'd probably think "don't bug me" but once it unleashes you'd be like what the ****??? Gotta hate those sleepers cause your guard is totally down which leaves them the advantage.
Good story!
Good story!

If I saw an LP640 or something crusing down the freeway - call me immature but I would try and mess around with it just to hear that lovely exhaust note
Nico,
Looking at all the cars you own/owned, you might as well just buy yourself a Z06 and call it a day. If you modded your TT to get 700hp and added all the other options, you would probably be at the price point of a C6 or maybe even a used Z06.
I guess my point is this. I don't think that you would ever buy a Corvette. You drive a 997TT and all the other cars you own/owned because they are not massed produced like the Corvettes and many other cars that can (arguably.. but not my point) out run a 997TT. On one of my previous posts, I compared many current cars that boast more HP than the 997S. At this point, I have come to accept the fact that I bought my 997TT primarily for reasons of "exclusivity".
A Corvette, no matter how fast, does not represent me (and probably not you either).
I don't know much about 997TT mods (learning though), but it seems like you are probably going to have to lay down tens of thousands of dollars to ensure that this does not happen to you again with many other cars out there (especially in your neighborhood).
I get the feeling that because of the exclusivity of a 911 turbo, many modders of Civics, Mustangs, Corvettes and other sub $60,000 cars use the 911 Turbo as their benchmark.
What do you think they say when they meet up with their buddys?
"Blew that 911 Turbo away, and spent less than 1/3 on this baby (Honda Civic
)?"
So what.....

Frankly, I never mod any of my cars and if I do it's only minor things. For my 997tt, I don't plan on doing anything extreme. Just a chip and exhaust will do (as far as performance goes). Some BBS LMs and bilstein coilovers are also going to be put on within the next couple of months.
I just can't imagine myself in a corvette, nor do all my relatives and friends. I've driven one (C6 Z06) and I was more than impressed. I know for a fact it would kill the 997tt stock vs stock but for some reason I just felt better in the 997tt.

I just promised myself in my previous post that I wouldn't mod our 997tt to the "extreme"

Watching those vids though, makes it hard for me
Nico,
I also have a totally stock tip and can vouch for the sloth-like performance vs. another sports car when your in manual mode. In manual mode its easier to maintain boost, have that nice exhaust sound, play around, etc. However, after more than 13K miles I can tell you that you MUST drive the tip in auto mode, NOT manual mode, if you want to extract maximum performance from the engine and tranny. I have been up against plenty of vettes and have always held my own or beaten them down (except for a TT Lingenfelter C5 but thats a whole different story). As others have said, you will never know what the C6 vette had with respect to mods, so there is no reason to be embarrased. Furthermore, for about $25K you can add a 700hp kit to your car (which would look like a stock TT except for the exhaust tips) and really embarrass the crap out of most exotic cars. In fact I think by the end of this year or early next year there will me multiple tuners with 800hp kits if you want to go in that direction. In any event IMHO, as a daily driver, there is no finer automobile than the 997TT. If you really want to drop the hammer why don't you take your TT to a local track. My wife was sick and tired of hearing me whineabout the lack of space to open my car up. So she enrolled me in PCA and their 7/4 racing/driver ed event at Poconos Raceway (where I will drive my own TT). I'll let the group know if I exorcised my demons ....
