ASR Engineering... GOOD SOFTWARE????

Hey guys,

Im picking up my Turbo this week. Im considering getting the ASR software upgrade (CHIP) and I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it. Is this the way to go? Anyone here have the ASR chip??? Ive also considered the UPsolute chip but have only heard negative things about it. There was a thread posted a while back on this however it needs to be updated as ASR wasnt around back then: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...u-running.html

Thanks guys.

I have never heard of them, but that doesn't mean anything. FWIW I have GIAC and it seems to be pretty good so far.

ASR does good tuning, but I usually like to stick with someone who specializes with a certain car. EVO or Proto would be my pick for Porsche tuning.

White Twin Turbo allow me to tell you that if you are considering ECU tuning, ASR will take care of you and provide you with an excellent result.

I know ASR personally and ASR has tuned my E60 M5 to my fullest satisfaction.
ASR is working on development of mod components continously. BMW, Porsche and Mercedes Benz are the primary marque.

ASR is not generic as all the named tuners are. ASR knows and understands what is occurring and mods to the specific needs. I have lived this. ASR has complete engineering understanding of the conditions.

The fully built E60 M5 V10 twin turbo M5 motor will turn things upside down. This motor will be tough to beat by anyone.

All the haters have your fun but when this day comes (every soon) you will all cry.

Cheers gentlemen,
Ranger

I know they have some 997TT stuff, but there is not much info on them, the website last I checked were still under construction. And they are this board's sponsor but not enough info on their products.

I know ASR has a "plug and play" chip vs upsolute, which needs to be uploaded into the car. I'd rather the plug and play, as it is undetectable and at least HAS a resale value...
It seems most of you guys are not familiar with this chip... I'm still kind of confused who to go with...

I thought the chips were VIN specific.

They are, and the data is flashed into memory. However, the ECU will record the number of flashes and alert PIWIS if data has been tampered. You can try and get a cloned ECU (spare ECU programmed with your VIN) however, if you swap back to the stock ECU and the hours of use is not consistent with the odometer, suspicion will arise...ie if hours of use is 300 hours, 10K miles on the odometer...and you swap to a tuned ECU, use the car for a year, run up the odometer to 25K miles, and put the tuned ECU back in...now you have 300 hours of use and 25K miles...average speed >80MPH...sounds suspicious.

Thanks - I thought I had seen a similar explanation before. That being the case, is there any secondary/resale value to a flashed ECU as WhiteTwinTurbo suggests?

It's a little harder for a dealership to offer a CPO warranty on a car with a modified ECU.
