Video is fake, or GT-R used launch control

I own both.

Launch control can give you a ~0.5 sec jump, which makes GT-R "look" faster, but it's just gimmick (cool and fun, but a gimmick). From a roll, thee is NO WAY a GT-R pulled liked that on a TT.

I would love to do some unbiased runs against a stock TT from a roll (in SF Bay Area) if anyone is interested.

That's a pretty bad example. Even my blind grandmother would have had a better reaction time.

i dunno what u guyz call this, but it looks to me more like cruising than racing.... there is no way those guys were anythin near WOT.... its like a staged cruise with the gtr infront trailed by lots of TT.... total BS

i admit gtr would beat the turbo from a standstill bcoz of its launch control (i drive a tip btw so no bad launches here - power brake) .... however from a rol 50km+ the tt would beat the GTR and at high speeds the gtr has no chance. this i have tried and the gtr driver admitted that i would beat him from a roll, (tried 3 times). however when i tried with the gtr from 30km he had the jump on me bcoz the rpm level i was at was somewhere in the 2k range hence slight boost lag, whereas the GTR rpm is in the 4k range at that speed giving him a jump.

I wonder how tiptronic with brake launch would fare against GTR with launch control? BTW, does brake launching on 997TT void warranty as do GTR LC?

Launch control voids the GT-R's warranty? Well, f*ck!?!, why bother having it at all?

Yea, I was pretty shocked as well. Any damages caused by VDC off will void warranty. Furthermore, it could be rumors, but the car will not handle any more than 200 LC.

Chris - thanks for the info. If you had to choose between 997TT or GTR, which would you choose? And let's assume you can only choose one or the other

Looks like the GTR set his cruise control at 40mph, whereas the TT's only set it at 30mph

"Void warranty" is not the same as "resultant damage may not be covered under warranty"

Using LC does NOT void warranty. Using LC until you fry your clutch/tranny may cause them to not cover a claim for clutch/tranny work. Why is that surprising/unfair?

Price aside, I would keep the 997TT. For the money, the GT-R is a no brainer.

For now, I am keeping both.

Thanks for the explanation. I think there have been so many misconceptions about the GT-R, I can't figure out fact from fiction. Voiding warranties for using a feature of the car just doesn't make sense.
