09 production will be 09 model, that means no changes at all the car will be same as 08. " Talking about the TT and GT2 models"

MY2009 is the last year for the M97/GT1 engine. The new turbocharged A91 engine will have DFI and a HP increase. The new engine is rumored to start production sometime in early to mid-2009 as a MY2010.

Yes. my '09 will be delivered next month. same as '08, except for upgraded PCM. Probably the last GT1 engine.

When the new motor hits production it will have more power, not much, maybe 20-25, as it would be silly to introduce an all new engine without more power so the marketing guys can go to work with it. All thing said this is def. not 09 model year.

that makes sense cuz my friend got the information from "an insider". they are speaking 50hp increase on both the TT and the GT2! they should keep the GT1 engine and get do slight upgrades just like the 996TTS or an X50 package!

what about the price increase? any info?

50 HP is a little more than has generally been rumored but certainly seems possible. I would not expect much more. The days of relatively cheap mods resulting in a reliable 650-700 HP are probably gone.

I can't imagine prices increasing much since the new engine will be $25-30K cheaper to build than the current M97/GT1 engine.

I thought a majority of the GT1 based motors were in the 35k range to build. At least that's what it costs to replace one on a cup car and a GT3.

We arent talking about an el cheapo LS type motor going in the car are we? I cant imagine Porsche putting a motor in the car that costs 5-10k to build.

The more I hear about it, the more I think Porsche is going the way of the unreliable motor. It will be good stock, but not bulletproof, and wont like mods very much at all. Better on the surface, but that's about it.

In fact I think Porsche may want a motor that doesnt last forever. So people will be forced to buy new motors or new Porsches. Starting not to like the idea again.

The trajedy of this is the current block hasn't reached it's potential yet. I couldn't even imagine what the performance would be with a properly engineered double clutch, a lightweight GT2 chasis, and the current block.

Jeez, if the motor is really around 30-40k to make then Porsche is making one heck of a profit...
