Down side of bigger wheels?
I agree with mean. You could get some nice looking and light 19" wheels (i.e. monoblocks) then use your factory wheels to get sport cups for the track. 18 inch would be a little better for the track but then you need two sets. 20 will ride a little harder, heavier/slower, and suffer handeling due to the lower side wall not having as much give. They do look nice though.
No worries

No worries.
In regards to the GT2 tires what are you meaning about MPSC's for the GT2 they are same size as the GT3/RS tires. There are a few people running them on their Turbo's now. Are you worried about how it will affect your AWD compared to the 2WD from the GT2?
Please clarify - we are a helpful bunch. Well Bobby is not but most of us are

I ran across (not literally of course) a guy who drove a GT3 at the track a few times this summer. He made the corners look so easy. Besides being a better driver than I am (that he was), he thought I should try GT2 tires on my TT for better handling and performance. At first I thought that more rubber on the track made sense. But then I got thinking that these bigger tires (on 19" rims) might upset the AWD handling, especially the suspension, that is stock for the TTs. If it does change the handling and suspension then it would be counter productive to what I'm trying to do and would then stick with PS2s. Any ideas on how the TTs running the GT2 tires are finding the change? I should mention my TT is also my daily driver so I can't really go extreme. A great car regardless, right?
Since your OEM are 19's and if you get aftermarket 19's with a 12" rear and 8.5" front then adding MPSC's would be a good street/track setup. Crazy thing is that some cars are running 20" with MPSC as well. They make them in a 315/25/20 size now.
The GT-R runs 20"s and the SpeedArt run 20"s on the "RING" and I heard they had a decent time running on the Sport Maxx..
You will be fine running the 19" in the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups on your Turbo.

aawwww...why all the hate'n?
Kafka997...there are several sponsors here that carry excellent choices for lightweight wheels...common favorites include Champion and HRE monoblocks...for those with deep pockets...there are carbon fiber wheels by Dymag.
The Techart wheels you mentioned earlier...are very very very heavy...did I say heavy?

No TechArts - they weigh more than me and thats HEAVY - did I Bobby mention they are heavy?
cool!

For now....here comes winter!
There are several companies that make 20 inch wheels that are as light as the 19s that come on your car. So you don't really have to sacrifice weight.
The 997TT is a traction limited car. It will only accelerate as hard as the tires will allow. Therefore, anything that increases grip (like a 325 tire or sticky tire compound) will have a positive effect on acceleration.
Sometimes, especially with modified cars, the change in grip can produce remarkable results.

i have 20" hre 790r's on my 08 CW, i know that it affects the performance, but for a weekend car, i dont mind. plus im not into the track, or racing. so i guess "to each his own". everyone has their own seperate opinion on the matter. thats how i like to percieve it.
What width of tires are you using and how are they for street driving?
How do they compare to the stock PS2s both on the street and track? And when it's wet? Thanks for the comment from personal experience. It seems your car and I share something at hi speeds!
You mention TT is your daily drive and located at BC? MPSC will improve the grip over PS2 at dry for sure. But for a daily drive in wet BC winter. This might not be the best idea. Also You will need new rear tires every 5000km with MPSC. In the long run, you better have a set of 18 or 19" MPSC for track and use OEM PS2 for street.
Beside, TT need alot work on top of better tires to dance like a GT3 at the track. The whole suspseion setup is different, you need to drive one to believe how far apart with TT and GT3.

I'd like to try a few laps with a GT3 (who wouldn't) but on the other hand I might like it too much, and I only recently got my TT!

btw, which part of BC are you at?
20" MPSC are not the best optoion for a daily use car because they have Threatware 80 and will go very fast, they have a decent handling in water.
For me weekend "Warrior" jijiji
20" MPSC are the best compromise between handling and looks for me.

That what i am thinking as well...what is your 18 tyres set up ???
How MPSC work in colder weather and on wet ???
Big diff compared to reg PS2 or to otehr road tyres ???
Is it good to use them for daily driver during summer ???
