I called my Porsche dealer and they said that my 2008 997 TT did have the anti-laceration coating on the inside of the windshield. I haven't pursued verification of the dealer's statement. I then spent some time trying to find an acceptable way to mount the detector. I ended up with a weighted beanbag mount that sits on the dash next to the Chrono. It is not pretty but it works. I was afraid to stick the suction cups on the windshield and later find out that there were permanent suction cup marks. I don't know if the suction cup mount would have marred the windshield or not but I chose not to take the chance. I even considered the $1600 Escort 9500ci that requires permanent mounting. One thing for certain is that I don't intend to own a high performance vehicle and stay within posted speed limits at all times. I was just curious if the suction cups marked your windshield.
I have an 08 with the V1 suction-cupped next to the rear view and hardwired. I don't see any issues with the windshield (yet). These windshields are crap anyway as detailed on other threads...very soft and seem to need replacement every few years due to nicks. So, no point in treating it like it's going to last 50 yrs.

WOW. It is so difficult to get upset when you know someone was honestly trying to help out. I hope all the scratches come out with a thorough detail.

i understand you are upset, but it sounds to me like they were all trying to do the 'right thing' and are giving you more than adequate compensation for the repairable damage that they caused. everyone should feel good about the outcome.

The sad thing is that I will guarantee that they either fired the poor guy or took the cost out of his pay. At the end of the day...he still should have known better and been trained not to ever touch a customer's car.

thats far worse than my AC valet experience. Gave my ticket, wait 5 minutes, see them driving up my car and bottom out the front spoiler as they pull in. As the guy gets out, he uses his foot to push open the door on the speaker... I looked at the guy and said you need to be more careful and gave him a buck. Trump won't be getting my loot again.

Gregory,

Knowing how detail oriented you are with your cars, im extremely sorry to hear about that. Its always frustrating leaving a car in the hands of the valet. We always seem to trust them, yet horror stories are always told. Maybe valet companies should suck it up and higher more skilled workers... Just my .02 cents...

UPDATE:
They (Borgata) called me today. Before they send 'compensation for damages' - I had to sign a waiver of all further claims, and a declaration this finalizes this issue and acknowledge this in no way makes Borgata (and parties/associates) responsible. I'm sure the accountants are litagation attorney's too .
At the same time, they manage to keep the delivery so very pleasant. I can't get this kind of service from other businesses when I'm trying to buy goods and services from them!
Should have my check by Wednesday. This is top of the list for the most pleasant, unpleasant experience I ever had.

As for the windshield scratch/marring issue, I think we'll start a new thread instead of highjacking this one ... see new thread ...

Good for you SaintlySins! It is always nice to hear when someone accepts responsibility for an unfortunate mishap.

More then adequate? Says who? Says you? The valet? Detailing a car like that takes a good 8 hours and is very hard work that requires a good set of tools and some knowledge. Regardless of however much he has been compensated nothing will make up for his frustration and time.

---------------------------------

Sorry I feel absolutly no symphahty for the two good piece of **** that did that too your car and I'm not at all afraid to admit that. He was trying to do the right thing? What world does he live in? How many times have people who have tried to do the right thing gotten more then they asked for? People trying to help others getting shot, stabbed, or lured into a robbery by someone pretending to be in distress, etc.

Bottom line, when dealing with things worth more then everything you own combined (yes, I'm a *****; and yes you know it's the truth) - don't touch it. Do your job, and I mean that literally, do your job - nothing more.

I would have been absolutely furious as well. The guy had no business touching your car. As for the other member who posted about a valet employee bottoming out his car and opening the door with his foot. First off, why are you valeting your car? Second of all, had he done that with my car I would have told him off real nasty in his face (still quiet enough so only he could hear it) and not given him a tip. People that have a total disregard for other peoples property do not deserve a tip.

Awful story, this makes me even more jittery when parking a car at places that have valets. You go the extra mile for the piece of mind by parking yourself, yet they still manage to get you by messing with the car when you're away. Awful!

Just a note about detailing, i went to a mercedes dealer here in hartford, noticed that their detailer scuffed every used car that i could see ( okay about 5 of them ) including in the showroom, nothing but buffer marks in the clearcoats. just be careful with black paint and detailers.

I would be upset as well with your situation, but if it was a sencere mistake, oh well, i would have gone to a autobody guy and not a dealer to make sure they have a way to pull out the scuffs and swirls, most detailing hides it. I have tried many places until a trip to a autobody guy that spent a day taking a small layer off i think to get rid of the scuffs and swirls i had on a darker car.

I know exactly how you feel!
I have a black subaru Legacy which for a 2006 car is still in very good condition with barely a dent or scratch to be seen. however it does have lots of swirl marks in the paint as the paint is unbelievably soft!
I do not park that car in any parking lot!
So if this is how i behave with a NZ$30000 Subaru you can imagine how i would be with a Porsche Turbo!
I would have a civic to go to restaurants in lol!
