997 turbo tranny issue
Hello,
I am relatively new to the community, I upgraded from a 2006 eclipse gt (6speed). Proud owner of a turbo (6speed) however I have an issue . . .
I noticed it a couple of weeks ago and thought the car was just settling in (1300 miles right now, bought it used with 400 miles)
It is really hard to get it from 3rd in to 4th - it slips and stalls for a few seconds (which is horrible especially when getting on the interstate)
Is this a common issue for the turbo? I just want to educate myself before I take it to the dealership (so i don't have to pay for something I don't need)
From what research i've done it seems like my clutch might be going, but I do not smell anything, I even did a few hard runs then jacked the car up and tried to sniff around still nothing, I can't understand why the clutch would go at 1,300 miles.
From what I was told the previous owner was an older man and the car was too "aggressive" for him so he traded it in for a DB9.
- I have never been to the track, I haven't taken her past 100 yet, I am still "breaking" her in..
Please forgive me if this was covered somewhere and I missed it, any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Hard to go 3rd to 4th gear as in gear lever is hard to pull? or hard to get clutch to engage?
If latter, I'd bet your clutch is wearing. On an uphill incline how are the other gears?

Yes it's the clutch that is hard to engage, on an uphill I don't notice much difference except the 3-4th engagement is worse.
I faced none of these issues with my clutch . My stock clutch was changed to a stage 3 at 4K miles but all along it was smooth . Slipping usually implies worn but if an elderly previous owner pampered it with low miles it may not be a routine wear and tear issue . It does need to be looked at .
