2800 miles - Should I get an Oil Change??? Dealer Special on Oil Change
Hello,
I wanted to know what your thoughts are on this issue. My dealership is running a special promotion on synthetic oil changes next week for $79. I have an 08 turbo coupe with 2800 miles on it. I drove it really hard even before I hit 1000 miles on the odometer. What do you think I should do? Is it worth doing now or should I wait?
If you were me...what would you do?
Thanks guys!
Peter

I do mine every 1500 miles and if i run the car hard, i do it every 1000 miles tops.
It is your car, i am sure a lot of folks will come on here and tell you that it is not needed or recommended, I take care of my cars as if i am going to own them forever.
Good luck.

I swapped my oil out after I broke her in. Probably around at the 2,000 mile mark. On the BMW ///M cars they do a service right after the break in where they swap the oil so I figured why not. After that I do it about every 5,000-7,500 miles or so.
I'd do it, sounds like a good deal and it doesnt hurt to get that initial oil out now that the parts have had a little time to settle in.

Yes, change your oil, just be a little suspicious of anything else they say you need to have done. This kind of cheap service deal is bait to get you into the stealership for a fishing expedition. Good luck.

The bait and switch is probably it being just an "oil change" if you want the filter changed, it's another $100 lol But if it's legit, you definitely should. Get that break-in oil out of there, after that you can go 5,000 miles between changes easily.

I did mine at 2500 miles and will do it again at about 7500 (it will be about a year old when I hit 7500 miles). Porsche says you don't need to do it this often - but i'd rather over-maintain then under. Mine runs like a dream.

Hi,
great price but a caveat on what it includes. If oil and filter then go for it. Fantastic to see a dealer being so proactive.
Personally i just go by the service intervals in the handbook, but if i could get that price here then i would change that.
Rgds.
