What is this?........

Described in a 911uk forum as "Its the second supply tank for the clutch actuating circuit". I haven't checked my owners manual yet. But while taking off the plastic covers covering everything under the hood tracing the oil leak. I see oil all over the place and a pool of it on the lower left of the battery. Wires and other stuff are covered with oil. The top of this small oil tank is loose, but doesn't seem to tighten. It reads "mineral oil" on it. What is it for and do I need to worry about it leaking or that it leaked?

Hope you meant "clutch and slave cylinders".

Does anyone know what the consequences are if this failure occurs in the middle of nowhere? Is the car still operable?
