What sucks about the 997 TT OEM Wheels?

So I understand that there are lighter, and more visually-attractive wheels than what come standard with the 997 TT.

I've read prior posts where people refer to the OEM's as being sucky. Will anyone care to elaborate, or is the above a sufficient summary?

They just don't look as good as some of the aftermarket alternatives. But it's a forged BBS wheel, thus very high quality, nothing wrong with them at all.

I like the stocks but aftermarkets is just candy :D

They're ugly and the offset is simply wrong.

SLATETT Apr 24, 2009 03:19 PM

nothing wrong - just a matter of taste - I find them easy to keep clean

They're strong wheels and quality...They look decent for a stock wheel...Just think aftermarket looks better

Hi,

as mentioned they are pretty good for a standard wheel option. I looked at getting some other wheels, but Porsche are not keen on any aftermarket mods whatsoever here in Dubai.

Its strong, light, but does not come close to some products out there, Champion and HRE to name but two !.

Considered painting the current wheel, really like the colour of the gen 2 GT3 wheel in titanium.

Rgds.

For a bone stock car it may be not the best look, but after the springs and spacers it enhanced its look. I would only change it for GT2 or P40 wheels, but only if i get a very good deal on this ones. If you add a body kit, then you defenitely have to change it for a aftermarted wheels.

Agreed. And they don't look dirty, even when they are.

taylorcoleman Apr 25, 2009 02:12 PM

Cool, thanks. I do happen to like 'em, so more money for other mods then :)

TD997TT Apr 25, 2009 07:29 PM

Nothing sucks about 'em.

OEMs are good wheels - relatively light, strong, don't show dirt, etc. They always have been good, especially on the turbos.

But I think a lot of people just like to have something different and unique. It's a matter of personal opinion, taste and intended use. For what they are, they offer a lot of value when purchased as slightly used take-offs.

stand out from the crowd dude :)

I like them, would have used them if they were wider with a more aggressive offset. mostly OEM wheels have very bad offsets anyway i.e. Maserati Gran Turismo, love the wheels the offset is way off!

You find them easy to keep clean? You are welcome to come over and clean them for me :)

(I bought slatett's car when he traded it recently)
