battery warning in car wash

battery warning in car wash
First night home Saturday with new 09 TT coupe, 250 miles back from dealer--so I went to a carwash to get all the bugs off, and while idling during the rinse the battery warning came on. The wash was very vigorous--my guess is the battery terminals got wet for a little. Hasn't happened since.
Anyone else noticed this?
Off to Evolution Thursday for EVT720, Bilstein lowering and roll bar. Will have around 600 miles on it, and that folks will be the end of my break-in IMHO.....

I have never taken a Porsche to a car wash . In fact I once heard of a guy whose 993 rear window shattered in the dry phase . If "touchless" the detergents are too strong and if there are brushes it will cause swirls (scratches) .
Tell yoir service advisor though as to avoid a problem in heavy rain .

Car Wash...
sorry to pile on, but running the TT - or any high end car that you care about and assumably worked hard to acquire - is something I can't relate to. Not only don't the TT and AMG see the car wash, but neither does the 2002 Taurus DD. I'm not buying the 'bug' story

Wasnt it the low alternator voltage warning?
This happens all the time to me. The alternator belt gets wet in the wash and it slips for a few minutes until it drys. Its nothing to worry about.

Me too
I get this types of power message once and awhile as well - it may be the car wash or just idling for a long time as these suckers are really hard on the juice and give you lots of warning. It doesn't amount to much.
That said I take my car through touchless (those with no tire railings) all the time and no problems at all (of course I have lots of 3M on my car). We can't hand wash our cars in much of Canada (environmental regs) and it gets pricy paying for detailing all the time (although I have mine professionally detailed about every two months - especially in winter months with snow and salt). So a balance between safe car washed and hand washes. For sure I'd never run it through with brushes that touch the car - ouch.
I notice here in SoCal you only have to wash your car every week or two - what a bonus.
