Can someone explain to the ones that dont know what are the main differences from the new engine vs the old engine apart from the obvious ,2 cc. Will the new engine be able to be heavily tunned as we have done to the 3,6 one?

The 3.6 is the old GT1 block from the Lemans car. It has been used EXTENSIVELY in racing and road cars.

It is tried, true and proven bullet proof reliable. It is also true DRY SUMP, unlike the 3.8

The new Engine has yet to be proven, and is NOT being used in Porsches racing cars(they have bored out GT1 blocks)

However I highly doubt Porsche is going to all of a sudden make a bad engine, but under high mods it may have weak links, but maybe not.

The new engine is a $hitload cheaper and is yet to be proven better. Time will tell. I just think this new engine is more beancounter than track killer but hopefully we will be proven wrong.

Although I hope GT1 block cars hold their value a wee bit better, that would be nice.

I think the new engine could handle fine any mods with modified VTG (max 750-800HP). Similar to Mitsubishi when they change old 4G63 closed deck iron block to semi open deck 4B11 aluminum block, for any mods with stock turbo (max 450-500HP) the new engine would be strong enough, but not for heavily modified 600HP+ evo. The new 4B11 is lighter and cheaper to produce.
