Question on Sport Chrono Turbo with an ECU tune

On a stock 997.1 Turbo with sport chrono engaged the engine actually gets louder and humms.

Why?

I also wanted to know what happens with an ECU tune with the overboost feature. Are the added HP/TQ numbers measured in normal mode and increase even further in sport mode?

Does an ECU tune such as the one I have via EVOMS Stage 1 negate the overboost timer indefinitely or does the overboost function taper off similar to the stock tune after a few seconds?

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

Even with the EVOMS ECU flash, the sport mode will do exactly what it does in stock ECU mode. The boost comes on steeper and tapers off quicker.

My understanding is that the boost readout on the dash is not accurate. Even in non-sport mode, you are pushing around 18 psi with an ECU tune. It will only read 15 psi on the dash though.

Another 6speeder and I were discussing exhaust noise and ECU tune in PM and evidence points to a change in timing and air fuel ratio. So expects a tuned ECU to make your exhaust louder. How loud depends on your car, your exhaust, the specific tune.

Like Gotboost said, yes. Mike has EVOMS and I know this is true of GIAC. So it's yes at least for the 2 big guns of US tuners, GIAC and EVOMS.

No, AFAIK for EVOMS and GIAC. The timer is still on so it is NOT indefinite.

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.
What Mike wrote about boost is also right; I've been told by those who should know LOL that the dashboard boost readout is limited to 1 bar in normal mode and 1.2 in sport mode, regardless of what true boost is.
