Who do ya like??? I am ready to buy but am confused what to get??? I really want a new W212 Blk/Blk E63 dropped on 20's... but I know I will miss my 997 soo much which will be my 3rd carrera purchase if I get the new TT PDK, such a hard choice this round, I know the handles in the Benz. might be a fatal decision. and I might regret, what's one to do??? Any words of wisdom before I pull the trigger 6erz

If you have enough $ where the depreciation hit does not matter to you, then you have enough $ to get both cars -- which is what I'd then recommend you do.
I have a 2010 E63 on order to replace my C63 --can't wait!!
(if) Mercedes brings the Supercharger back to the E63 in a year or so, the mighty TT could have a hard run with the merc.??? E63 Black-2follow soon with moded suspension + light weight & a couple extra pony's. I still am leaning towards the P-CAR but am going to wait to see the E in thaflesh...soon. TTough one!
^^^ Taylorcoleman - I only lease. So I don't care about re-sale much, besides msrp's not that far apart anyway...

Ah, lease, OK. That makes it easy--no E63.
The AMG lease rates are horrific. Base rates are rarely less than 9% and have held steady at about 9.47% for the past year. Non MBFS lease rates are a little better, but still astronomical. And considering lease payments are largely derived from depreciation (i.e. re-sale), that's an extra whammy. I don't recommend buying or leasing a brand new AMG (though I'm guilty of that).
The E63 will be hot. You'll probably love it. I think the honeymoon period with a new E63 will be much shorter than with the TT.
Whenever I'm thinking about putting my TT out to pasture, some event surfaces that makes me adore it again. That could be an exceptional ride through the twisties -- tunes being just audible over the engine roar. Or the other week when a 10-year-old kid was in awe of my car while I was filling it with gas. Certainly the latter would not be possible with the E63.
So I change my recommendation. Get whatever car (either one), but take...your...time...in...making...a...decision.
Best of success--and have fun!

Funny, my 63 lease is up and I am looking at a 997TT.
The E63 is a fabulous car, the 2010 is supposed to have much, much improved handling and steering. So much so that you would think it is a completely different platform. Also the tranny is getting high praise. Remember you are still comparing a 2 door sports car to a 4 door sedan, albeit a super fast one. Not really apples to apples, that being said you already had several 911's, why not a change. Life is short, drive as many different, fast cars as possible!!

This is a porsche prejudice forum, and it shows. Im sure you will get different results if posted on the amg forum. Both are great but different cars. The bottom line is what would suite you best. I myself am getting ready for the switch to a more conservitive family oriented car yet powerful car. I guess my taste in cars is starting to change with my age (Ouch)
I am proud to be without AMG

But to compare an AMG to a Turbo --not only are the cars so different , but it almost insults the Turbo . In fact if there was anything that I didn't like about the Turbo in its stock form was that it had some hints of AMG Benz charcteristics. The squishy stock suspension, soft exhaust note, power assist clutch, and lack of connectivity with AWD were negatives . In fact the clutch almost had me avoid the car .
The flaws of the Turbo are the strengths of the AMG. It's a car which appeals to a driver who strikes me as one who is less into driving and more into luxury .
I took those luxuries out of my Turbo inside of 200 miles and produced a car that was on the cutting edge early on . I upgaded it . over and over .. and now it rests .. not because more can't be done .. but because I am having a fling with my PDK car .
I don't like a soft car . I may be middle aged but I refuse to become boring and that's what an AMG Benz represents to me . Boredom . It represents going to a job that you want to leave , eating dinners you don't want , and lacking the capricious freedom in your life to really enjoy it they way you once did when you were a kid . It's driving stagnation and at 100+K the pricetag almost makes it a toxic expense.
Maybe we are different. If so you may end up with an AMG.
Good luck if you change your mind early in an MB lease . I have never seen leasing hold a person to a contract so firm like Mercedes (even if they lose money) .

Exagerating a bit, are we...I have run a best 12.1 @117 ET in stock form with the 63 and consistant 12.1-12.2's..what do TT run..consistantly!
but 1/4 miles not showing every performance figure.A proper launched tiptronic 997TT.1 can do approx 11.6-11.7 @ 119-120. Also if you run 60-130mph between E63 and 997tt you can call e63 a snail..
The thread asking new 2010 E63 vs 2010 997tt.2 PDK.You can't really give the comparetion between old E63 vs 997tt.1...We never drive the 997tt.2 yet so you never know, but it sounds much faster..Try to run a 997 C2S.2 PDK with your E63 to 140mph,I even doubt if you could easily walk through that.
Yes E63 is a fast saloon for sure.
