Just an update about the car...I wanted to voice my pain and suffering (haven't seen the car in a week)...so, in buying the car my friend sold it to another friend of mine who owns a dealership (I went this route to get a better loan rate) who drove the car and noticed a noise coming from the rear. He took it to the Porsche dealership (only one the metropolitan area). Porsche stated it needed a new belt, tensioner, and A/C compressor. With the belt installed and compressor on order I drove the car (couldn't hear the "high pitched squeal" the techs were hearing). I took the turbo in last week to get the A/C compressor installed and received a call that the water pump was the noise and therefore needed replacement. Friday rolls around and they are still working on the pump. Monday rolls arounds and I'm told they found a rusted pulley and failing alternator and blamed me for damaging it from pressure washing it (I never did this). Go to get the car last night (was told to pick it up Tuesday night because everything would be completed) and it's not ready - now I'm told the noise was a rusted bearing for a pulley and that all the new parts they installed need to be replaced with my original part because they "misdiagnosed" the noise. My SA can not tell me when the car will be ready now!!!!!!!!!! He did say that Porsche will warranty everything.

It won't be tracked and possibly mod'd with sw and exhaust at a later date. The first is yellow on full black with heated sport seats and sport/chrono. There are key scratches on the driver's door 12-15 inches long and one on the drivers mirror (they can be buffed down some more, but ultimately need to be sprayed to not be seen (it has 9200 non-tracked miles and will out of warranty in 4 months and has 2mm on the PS2's). The other is red on black and terracotta with deviating black carpet, heated sport seats, CD changer, sport/chrono, thicker wheel, limited slip, sport shifter, carbon/ill. entry, carbon int. package, carbon shifter and carbon e-brake (32k miles, never tracked single owner lease daily driver - leased and serviced from where it is now - it is also certified - warrantly for 3.5 years, new PS2's, fluids, and brakes).
Number 2:
Warranty, safer choice. Paint you can always hide, that doesnt affect the choice...

EDIT:
Just read the final comments. Congrats on the car! =)

I’d be interested in hearing about your final evaluation of service when all is complete. My experience with service there has been good. It seems odd they would say the new parts have to be removed after install because that wasn’t the issue. I’m also curious about the engine cleaning comment. I have not steam cleaned my engine but had thought about it as it is getting dusty. Did they state this should not be done?

The turbo spent 9 days at North Scottsdale Porsche - all belt driven accessories were removed and replaced with new parts without the noise being found then they realized that the pulley on the power steering pump was recessed 0.5mm. This created an uneven area on the the rolling belt which was the source of the sound. A 0.5mm shim was placed and the vehicle was re-assembled. The PCM unit was replaced and a few other interior noises were silenced. I drove the car to Tucson with my wife on Sunday. The car is quite (too quite IMO) and running strong (hit 155 in 6th gear with sport off in a blink - caught too much of my wife's attention and back to 70 we were). Running 100 octane for the moment - plan is to mix fuel (91/100) to get 93 octane (very poor fuel quality in AZ). This should get almost as much as the 100 octane gain from the flash I got (about 570). So all is well. I got a clear bra installed and changed out the yellow side markers, otherwise it's still stock.

Catching wife's attention sometimes = bad. LOL
Rest sounds like a lot of fun!

Local track (I think Firebird) has up to 118 (leaded). !00 can be found at 6 local stations. A few I know of are Pima & Bell (Scottsdale Auto Salon) and the Pavilions (Indian Bend & Pima 76 stations). I'll ask Saad (he owns a dozen or so stations around town and has 100 octane at his pumps (I think 1 is in the West valley).

I had the same high pitch squeel noise. dealer thought it was my power steering pump so replaced it. when that didn't solve the problem, they replaced the idler pulley, prob the same one as you. Good choice in your #1 option. enjoy!

Congratulations. Personally I like the yellow better. Did you come from a M5? Thinking about adding a 997TT also.
