In your very first post you wrote --
I've been lurking here for many months and I've logged about 200 hours of research to come to a disappointing conclusion.

I've wanted a 911 Turbo for nearly 20 years and since 2006-2007, I've been especially smitten with the 997 Turbo.
Why get to this point and pull this reversal ?
No one here can talk you out of a 360 . The car itself .. will talk you out of keeping it once the novelty erodes.

First, post #14 is hilarous.

Second, the 360 is hot on the outside, but a P.O.S. on the inside, and slow as a dog (IMO).

This is really a very personal decision. The 360s depreciate like rocks too. Of course if you buy a 2000 it will depreciate less, but...that's almost 11 years old!

430 coupes are going for $135K now ('07s). If you're serious about a 360, grab the 430 as the reliability is much better, repairs are less expensive, and it's much faster.

Try also ferrarichat if you have not already. Post this same question and see what surfaces.

360s have zero torque. Pretty car..better looking than 430 in my opinion. But not much power relative to 997TT.

all i know is if your going to be contemplating between an F-car and a 997tt, the f-car should at least be a F430.

in this case, i would go with the 997tt.

And finally, if you don't decide to buy it, you can always call the number and make your reservation:

The 360 has no torque to speak of. Only has power up top. It like a glorified but better sounding S-2000, imo.

I have driven F430 back to back with 997 Turbo and Gallardo. Not a routine test drive but one that goes up to 90-100 mph. I agree that Ferrari is beatiful, and an F car is an F car, but.....I agree with 2 points mentioned by others here:

1. The competitor to 997 Turbo is F430. F360 is hopelessly "outdated" and "out-powered," 5 years ago. :-)

2. F430 has great handling, great chassis feedback, and is among the most beautiful cars in the world, but the lack of torque is EXTREMELY disappointing once you have a taste of Porsche Turbo power. I kept the F430 at above 5000 rpm during the test drive, and even so, the torque felt "missing in action." In fact, I think the better competitor against the Turbo is the Gallardo, which has fantastic V10 power and at least subjectively, feels more powerful and satisfying than the F430, and to me, a better exhaust note. One to die for. :-)

I used to think a Ferrari is a must try once in a lifetime, after the test drive I don't feel that to be the case any more. I feel the GT3 has more satisfying handling and feedback, and the Turbo has superior power. Just my 2 cents -- YMMV.

Follow Ups

Thanks for the comments. Just a few follow ups..
  1. I should have mentioned the F430 in my post. The problem with the F430 is that its way out of my price range (by some $40k). It also has a long way to go in terms of depreciation.
  2. The 360 is within my budget and the 997TT is pushing the limits. In fact, I'd need wait a few months before the 997TT start getting closer to $85k before I could buy.
  3. I do have a daily driver already and the P or F car would just be a weekend fun car.
