Champion Motorsport New Product Video_2010 CMS Intercooler kit for 997.1 and 997.2

Greetings,

To compliment our exciting new line of CMS GT Billet VTG Turbochargers, Champion Motorsport has designed a brand new for 2010 intercooler upgrade kit for Porsche Twin Turbo models.

Kits are in stock and ready for shipment for 2007 - 2009 997.1 Twin Turbo Models.

Product for the 2010 997.2 Twin Turbo models is fully developed and ready for sale pending the arrival of the updated silicon hose kits. We have a very limited supply of the first batch (fitment verification samples) and can do "in house" installations at this time.

Although the kit was not designed for the 996 Porsche Twin Turbo Model cars, many customers have been quite successful fitting them with minor fabrication. At this time we do not offer a specific "kit" for the 996 models.

Please review the video linked below, with all of the discussion going on about intercoolers, we are confident that this video clip will answer all of your questions regarding our latest intercooler technology.

Thank You,

Louis

Louis,

I watched your entire video. Thank you for sharing.

The fin count looks significantly higher than the Bell cores.

Would you be able to post any of your data logs on the track? It sounds as if the delta compared to stock intercoolers was nearly 35C...were you able to collect inlet and outlet temps to calculate thermal efficiency?

Thanks for the kind words guys..

I can actually produce some thermal efficiency charts based on the testing that we already have done. I will do that and post them in the morning.

I also have dyno results and write up on the billet turbo conversion on the 997.1 that I have not had time to post yet, and those results are even more impressive than the 997.2 results. I am working flat out.. Look for more tomorrow..

nice video...And good products...Just a question...how can 997.2 intercoolers have worse flow than 997,1?Weird isnt it?Have you placed an introductory price for the intercoolers set?

You reckon IATs of 35DegC in 27DegC ambient air ? (did I hear right ?)

So 8 degC above ambient on a 27DegC day ?

Secan intercoolers manage 24DegC above ambient on 27 DegC day....

You have the best intercoolers in the world there congratulations ! or you might want to do some more testing......but hey you have made your announcements and your promo vid so must be happy with your R&D.... caveat emptor.......

Edit:
I am told these are the I/Cs Cargraphic are selling as their "mid-range" product. Their proper full load testing shows the intercoolers in the video about a 40DegC increase at 27DegC ambient (stock is around 57 DegC above in 27 DegC ambient) so a good improvement...... The video may need a bit of editing....
Greetings,

I have been waiting for you, you always have such nice things to say in all of your posts.

A few points: Cargraphic has never sold any of our 2010 intercoolers, they have been available for less than 30 days, and all but 1 set has been installed locally.

Although I appreciate your concern, Please do not feel that you need to educate me on products such as Secan or Marston, as I have been a development engineer on some of the most high profile factory backed professional racing projects in the last decade and then some. Starting with the Porsche GT-1 -96 right up and through the Audi R-10. All have been turbocharged, and all have used the finest quality components that technology could produce and money could buy, and I think you will agree that all of these programs have been successful. I am certainly not taking credit for all of the success of these programs, but this is where I received the education that I have implemented into the product that Champion Motorsport will sell from 2010 forward, and our customers will reap the reward of such technology.

All of our data is collected from the instrumentation that is OEM standard on the car. Yes, we have seen differences between the ambient onboard temperature sensor and a standard outside thermometer, but we will continue to base results off of the onboard sensors as every car has one, and we can be consistant with our findings.

Attached is a clip of data collected from our 997.1 Werks1 car just 1 week ago. It was a cooler day here in Florida and the results illustrate that. Each car that we fit with our kits is datalogged, and verified for all levels of performance. The only variable would be that we cannot control the use of our products with other companies kits. We will only commit to a level of performance if our components are used exactly as we specify them to be used.

Champion Motorsport is a company built on integrity, our reputation speaks for itself. Thank you for your comments, as we do believe that we have "the best intercoolers in the world" for Porsche Twin Turbo Models.

Hi Louis,

Looking good, I bought a set of Champion V2 intercoolers from Vivid Racing awaiting shipment...my car is a RUF conversion with 600 HP's. RUF usually do not change intercoolers. The question is once the intercoolers are installed do we need to reprogram the ECU.

Greetings,

I am not 100% up to speed on the RUF conversions, so it is difficult for me to properly advise you on the necessary tuning. If the closed loop fueling, knock control, and the many other fail safe tables are left intact in the RUF reprogrammed control unit, then I would assume you will be safe, as the DME will continue to adjust to the programmed targets. This adjusting to target is what will yield your increase in power and torque.

We have seen "tuning files" with the knock control "softened up" around peak torque, and on many occasions we have seen the secondary O2 sensors shut off to avoid check engine lights with Catalyst Delete exhaust systems. These are just a few examples of situations that could cause problems by stepping outside of the window of the original "kit" programming.

In the end I know that you will realize sizable gains with your CMS intercooler upgrade, but ultimately, I would suggest that a qualified tuner log data, and make any appropriate adjustments to insure the safety of your package.

I am sure like me many of the 997.1TT owners are waiting on the results you achieved with the billet turbo.

Can you please post the results and if possible the results of your Gen1 turbo too.

Thanks
Venkat

I promise to post the 997.1 results tomorrow. I planned to do it today, but just have not had the opportunity yet. I want to do a write up to go along with the charts, and will finish and post tomorrow.

Thank you for your interest.

Yes, I posted the 997.1 test results in this thread.
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...e-package.html

Also we just completed the install of this kit onto a 2009 Tiptronic car, and tomorrow at 9am it will go on the dyno. We will see what the differences are with the Tip.

This car also has the Standard Tubi exhaust with 200 cell catalysts. Other than that is the same kit with the Billet VTG GT-65 compressors, and all of the other listed updates.

Thanks for the interest..
