Exhaust tip removal

Can someone point me in the right direction to a write up on how to remove the factory exhaust tips. I have searched a few times with no results. I had a go at them yesterday, but the paint from the factory kind of had them stuck on. Not sure of you have to remove the bumper to get them off or not. Any help would be appreciated. I plan on taking them off and getting them powder coated black. Thanks in advance, Joe.

while getting them powder coated, is it okay to drive the car without the tips on? will it melt the plastic housing?

It's best to drive it at High Speeds w/out the tips on, so the wind blows the hot air past the plastic housing faster.

Caution! Powder coating won't last very long. The exhaust gases are to hot and the coating will be Tango Upsilon within a few weeks. A better bet is ceramic coating, which may even be cheaper.

Thanks for all the advice! I tried it before, I will try it again with the WD40. I believe that is what I was missing!
