how far out should tips be?
Just be sure the end of the tip isn't inside the end of the bumper. You can melt the bumper from the hot exhaust gas.
I lost a tip and didn't realize it until I pulled back into the pits. This is what happened after ~30 minutes of running without it.

The picture was taken after I found and reinstalled the tip.

. I also aree the pipes need to stick out at least an inch if they can....sitting them too flush to the bar can have nasty consequences. Good luck man.
I had already checked on the GT2 wing before I decided to get the Aero Kit (which I actually like better now). The GT2 wing air inlets don't match up and there was something else that would have to be modified.
Those are some super-clean tips, they look brand new. What product do you use? Mine look a bit etched (they were bought off a fellow 6speeder). I tried the "orange-glo" stuff my wife cleans the fridge with but it didn't get rid of the etching look. Not a big deal but I might try something else when I get around to it.
^^^^
Re. how far: probably minor point but I think it's a good idea to have it fairly flat with bumper's surface to prevent possible risk of burn from accidentally touching the protruding hot tip :-), and sometimes I need to use car cover.
Btw, Fabspeed tip has an 1 inch wide inner ring/collar, to be installed between the exhaust and the tip, that I presume is there to keep the tip from coming loose.

WOW. Sorry to hear about that. I've been casually checking my tip to be sure it didn't move (it hasn't) but I was thinking it wouldn't be a big deal if it had fallen off. WRONG!

Isn't there some brass/metal polishing product at Home Depot for this? Someone recommended it once but sorry I don't remember the name. I am sure Fabspeed and AWE tuning could recommend something for you too.
I'm going in on Tuesday to get the AWE exhaust tip retightened as the left one has pulled out half an inch or so. I could probably do it myself but I wanted to get something else looked at too. I was just wondering if there is a standard amount the tips are supposed to stick out or if it is user preference (within the allowed play of the tip)? I realize if you pull it out too much then the clamp will have less "purchase". Thoughts?
Your AWE mufler's outlet pipes will dictate just how far your tips can go and retain sufficient clamping pressure. Hopefully they have that slight extra length so your tips can go on and protrude @ 20mm or so and still be able to be conservatively clamped up nice and tight
. Your call of course on your tip protrusion.....each to his own and all

Imo the best look is to have some pipes protruding beyond the bar by at least an inch 1" to 1.5" as the bar tapers in. 1"/1.5" is a nice balance between being too far in and too far out of the bar recess. Too flush and you just dont see them at all unless you are looking dead behind....looks kinda weak from the side rear angle imo. You also have the heat factor which could at one point cause you serious problems with bar and paint damage ( re ruf turbos unfortunate incident).
Your AWE mufler's outlet pipes will dictate just how far your tips can go and retain sufficient clamping pressure. For eg: I found using the Techart 8 tips on the EP1 (which is dimensionally identical to the OEM outlet length) i had to fit the tips at the very very outer extremity to get them to show enough, so there was just enough for the clamp to acheive enough clamping pressure and contact for one to feel safe. It would have been nice for EP to have given a bit more outlet tube length to play with....it gives you tip options. Having to be too safe will always see the tips sit too flush....too weak looking imo. Your AWE may have that slight extra length so your tips can go on and stick out 1 to 1.5" and still be conservatively clamped up nice and tight

I'm not sure how much room there is for adjustment, I'll ask them tomorrow.
