Porsche 2011 gt2 news!
Man I am in love, and the rumors and what I believe were so right! The final and best evolution of the Metzger engine and a 6 speed manual which is in the vein of the GT2 and GT3 before it! 7:18 at the ring is pretty much unheard of, and this car promises to be quite a bit faster in a straight line than vaunted cars like the Viper ACR and Corvette ZR1!
In theory with the A91 engine they should be able to make more power on less boost due to being able to run a higher CR because of the DI. But something tells me the Metzger engine has a lot more headroom as far as big power goes.
No, it's just showing that there is ZERO advantage to the A91 motor over the Mertzger other than a little bit of weight and compliance with PDK. All other advantages go to the Mertzger.
Here's a better pic of the interior I found:

Not likely. The GT3 will carry it for a while longer. And as long as the GT2 keeps going up in power and without PDK, I don't think they will add the A91 to it either.
. . . I should've said 'last *new model* production p-car'. GT2 RS is last 997 based new model with M64 - M97 case. We'll see 998 next with A91 engine next.
I mean that as well. The NA GT1 isn't going anywhere as it's much harder to replace. There is possibly a 4.0L version coming out. But Porsche stated with the release of the 997.2 GT3 that there are a couple of life cycles left in the NA Mertzger. We are likely to see a hp bump or two with the 3.8 and then a 4.0. It might just outlast the 998 when it comes to the GT3.
You can bet you will see it on the race track in an RSR a year or so before you see it in a GT3 because of homologation rules on engines and Porsche will want to test it on the track. The RSR's are running 4.0 and the 998 GT3 will have a GT1 as well.
As long as the GT3 has it, I'm going to guess the GT2 will have it as well unless they want to put pdk in the GT2.

. . . but what a way to go out. Wow!!!
