kukri is infamous around these parts
Some guy in service just decided to put a high number in because he was having a bad day or to make up for something else.

Just change oil yourself, dealerships are such a ripoff.

8 oil changes in 9,200 miles?

May I ask why you are averaging 1150mi per oil change?

These cars break down oil very quickly.

I run my car in BOOST mode a lot so I like to make sure she is protected. Also, I change the oil myself so it cuts down on the cost.

The frequent changes makes for a strong running engine.

Well, I never did see anything in the way of solution from the dealer. They offered me a discount on the next oil change however, by way of a coupon they sent to all customers. I did however get a free quart on top up on the next service.

I'm not a P owner but have enough friends who are and have heard the dealer reaming stories enough times to anger me to the point that I am surprised no one has filed a state attorney general consumer protection investigation.

Purchasing a premium car is not a right to be fleeced by the dealer. I went through the same bs with Audi once. Went in for a simple warranty item, they ask if I wanted an oil Change. I foolishly said yes because it was already on the lift. 20 minutes later I was handed a bill for $205 after tax.

I nearly kicked the window out of every car in the showroom and raised hell - civility be damned. I don't take being f*over lightly.

This thread got me thinking and I pulled my receipts from a long time ago. I had purchased a GT3 from Paul Miller and duly took it there for the first oil change. Guess was the cost was, yup $462 exactly..............

Last time that car went there for oil change!

I'm a Porsche newbie here, but I'm shocked that oil changes cost so much. Not speaking of the dealer costs (which are sometimes expected due to high labor rates), but for doing it yourself. ~$100-120? Doesn't the Turbo take standard Mobile synthetic? A few quarts of that and a filter (sometimes people do the filter every other change) shouldn't cost so much. Anyway, I'll find out soon.

My M3 oil changes are ridiculous because they use some special BMW M oil that you can't really buy anywhere other than online or at the dealer. $285ish each change. Glad I don't drive this car much anymore (used to be 25K miles a year!).

Unless you own an Enzo or Bugatti, 9/10 when a manufacturer says the car needs some "special" blend of oil only available from the dealer, it's really just a bunch of friggin' malarky and a way to fleece you.

The only thing special about the oil is that it has one added inconsequential additive and is labeled "exclusively for P, L, F," etc. It is the same exact oil you can buy off the shelf at your upper echelon auto store or, in the case of more exotic blends/weights, race shop.

Honda tried to get me with that nonsense for that motorcycle. Oh, Mr. Heist, it takes Pro-Honda Blend blah blah blah at $11/qt.

Yeah, whatever son. I went down to WalMart and grabbed a 1 Gallon jug of Shell Rotella T in the same weight for $15 and haven't had a signal problem or any loss of performance in what is/was Honda's highest performance V-Twin Racing engine.

As you've seen here - cost varies by dealer. Check your owner's manual before you do the change - more than a "few" quarts required.
