Rev limiter-1st gear

Whoops! I ran into the Rev Limiter in 1st the other day, showing off. I was surprised it hit so low in the range though. Where should it kick in, in first gear? I wanna hear from you guys before I tell you where it went off....

Thanks

NYNick

On a 6 speed, redline is 6750 RPM gears 1-5, and 6800 RPM 6th gear. Fuel shut off is 7000 RPM in all gears.

Mine shut off around 6,000 RPM's, no way it was 6800. I just did a search on the topic(should've done it beforehand), and it seems some say the analog Tach can't keep up with the engine/boost, and that's why it seems to shut off 'early'.

Sounds like there's nothing wrong though, which is what I was worried about. I was just expecting it to go to around 7,000, which it clearly didn't.

Thanks

Was the car warmed up? Sometimes the rev limiter kicks in early on some cars if the vehicle is still "cold". I'm not sure about this car, but that's how it was on my NSX.

You answered your own question, imo. Tach cant keep up. Engine was running much faster than tach suggested when shutdown occurred. No harm to engine.
