Seeking advice on buying my next 911
Seeking advice on buying my next 911
Hi Folks-
I am kind of "stuck" with a decision on my next purchase. I have owned over 12 911s, mostly turbos or GT3s. I have come to the realization that serious racing means having a dedicated race car, so I would like suggestions about a street car, with a few Driver's Ed events per year. Here is what I am considering; I would really appreciate any feedback. My price range is $100K, with some wiggle room.
-997.1 Turbo: I have owned 3, including a Tip. They are great, especially with a few key mods. However, I sold my last one, a Tip coupe, because I found it a bit too sterile.
-964 Turbo (modified), properly set-up 996 GT2, or holding onto my Ruf RTurbo: All can be brutally fast cars, and you can feel it. However, the clearance of the front spoiler is low on the Ruf, and is not really practical for driving in the DC area.
-New 997 Carrera S with paddle shift. I am not sure about the power and the engine (I love the Mezger GT1 block), however, everyone raves about the speed of the PDK. I am really an old fashioned "heel and toe" driver, so don't know if this represents a decent alternative.
-997.1 GT3 or GT3RS (I already have a dedicated GT3RS for the track). I liked driving the GT3RS and the 996 GT3 in DC traffic, but you my think I am nuts. I have never driven a 997 GT3, except when instructing in a student's car.
Any and all advice is appreciated. I really don't want to go as high as $150K, so that leaves out the 997.1 GT2, and the new 997.2 Turbo and GT3RS.
Thanks in advance for words of wisdom. Anyone with a great car for sale, let me know. I obviously have Attention Deficit Car Disorder (ADCD).
Kind regards - Gerry

I commute from NVA to DC. I have a 997.1tt 6 speed, with the suspension done by TPC. I just put a set of the sport classic "fuchs" wheels on it. Couldn't be happier. Handles great/GT3ish, plenty of power, the assist clutch is key in traffic, and I used the kids seats in the back from time to time.

porsche makes specific seats that fit the rears in the 911...pricey but worth it if you need car seats/boosters
Way off what you may have had in past. But I ordered my wife a New Cayenne Turbo last week. That car rode great had lots of room high clearance and IMO had way more play per for steet than My Targa 4S six speed pretty good build well opt out has around $112 after discount.
