It is good that Porsches are reliable...
I'd think that a Ferrari owner would do the wife/girlfriend/supermodel (hot chick pun intended), while the Porsche owner would do the car...but I guess I can be wrong (right...). My money's on Porsche drivers burning Ferraris for the women and the Ferrari drivers burning Porsches for passing by or just working daily...
I'd like the Ferrari drivers to chime in on this one...
I remember a footballer was driving his 612 on the highway when his car started catching fire. I think that was scarier than having your car burning while parked...
Imagine this: Honey, the Ferrari is burning. I know I paid a lot of money on the service last week... What? No, I woun't get you a new dress...
Some "entertainment" for the Porsche crowd:

You know, it's very painful to see such cars on fire. It's no joke. Someone could get hurt (not necessarily the owner).

Actually if you search google pics you find those 3 relatively new Porsches, but if you search Ferraris and Lamborghinisi you find tens of pages of pics of cars on fire...

LOL! Wasnt quite what I meant, just gives you a perspective...
In my 2011 Turbo S manual, there is an "Porsche and the Environment" book that says (I think) 23% of all the cars Porsche has ever made are still on the road. That is the most profound environmental effect. As for the fires. I have halon extinguishers in both my Ferrari 550 and included as an option in the new 911. These are hot cars and things catch fire. When a hundred dollar extinguisher can save 10's of thousands in repair or a complete loss...duh!

Ferrari recalls Italia cars after reports of fires
The owner of this 458 noticed the fire while he was driving along in Paris Ferrari has decided to recall all of the 458 Italia cars it made this year, following reports of a number of the luxury cars catching fire.
Ferrari said its engineers had flown around the world to investigate five reports of "thermal incidents".
As a result, it will be asking the owners of more than 1,200 of the supercars to bring them in for modification work.

The 458 Italia typically costs about £170,000 ($260,000).
There were reported incidents in California, Paris, Switzerland, China and one other unnamed location.
Ferrari said the problem had been traced to adhesive used in the wheel-arch assemblies.

In certain circumstances, the glue can begin to overheat, smoke and even catch fire, a spokesman told BBC News.
In extreme cases, the melting of the adhesive can lead the heat shield - the liner which protects the engine - to deform and move closer to the exhaust, causing the lining to catch fire.
The handful of owners who first reported the fires - and that were later confirmed to be due to this problem - will now receive a new model, Ferrari said.
For the rest, their cars will be modified to replace the adhesive with mechanical fasteners.
Ferrari launched an investigation last month after photos purporting to show 458 models on fire or burnt out emerged.
Today they said that thy are recalling all 458 italias to fix the problem with the glue.
Now that they admitted that it is a factory defect most probably they will replace all the burned ones!!!
That's an expesive recall when you have about 1250 italias out and they cost 250-270k!!!
