I would keep the M3 as a DD.

You're in a much nicer part of the depreciation curve on that car. I have an M3 also. 997 TT's will be there next year with even better prices and probably more selection.

If your M3 has been RELIABLE then I don't think you should debate this at all. My 06 has been bulletproof and I plan to keep it well past 100k miles.

Sorry but I think you missed the 6k a year on the 997tt and get a standard beater as a DD. I would not drive 997tt for 25k a year, althought it would be wonderful, I am not at that level of DD yet.

I have 115k on my E46 M3. For a great DD, it really can't be beat for the price and reliability.

I, just sold my E46 M3 and got a 997.1. When you get 997 you will see the differences. Don't get me wrong the M3 is a really nice car But I can't explain in words you won't regret it!

Im scouring to find a suitable 997 to replace my turbo IS. Couldn't really downgrade myself due to getting use to the powerband. I don't think ill regret the decision but ill prob miss my car lol.

So here is what I would look at. Firstly I would keep the Bimmer you will regret selling it so...don't! Secondly, you say you can afford a 997TT because you did one deal... hmmm... and when will the next deal come through?? Thirdly, why not buying a 996TT with a GT1 engine for 40K dollars to rip around the place instead of blowing another 30K dollars on a 997T. Fourthly.. I bet, either a 996TT or a 997TT will be a better car and you won't be able to run them at their limits. I think you can not get wrong with either car... your wallet will thank you.

I think you should keep the M3 and maybe look at getting a 2008 AM Vantage...and then add some mods.

(hint see OP new signature and photo)

I'm sort of in the same boat. I think you will be fine either way. If you know for sure that you will ALWAYS have the E46 M3, I'd say keep the one you know and get the 997 Turbo next spring (unless an unbeatable deal for a 997 Turbo falls in your lap). It would suck giving up YOUR E46 M3 for an unknown 10-12 months from now.

I just sold my E92M3 to get a 997.1 Turbo. The trade off is that until next March (bonus time) I will have to drive my '04 4Runner LTD as my DD. I think it is well worth the "sacrifice".

Hey boys, yeah this is an old thread. If anyone had any specific questions pm me. I decided to go with a super low mile Aston Martin and mod it up a bit. Sitting at about 450 to the crank, no were near you guys stock, but quick enough.

FYI I wrecked the M3 two weeks ago and that's probably gonna be replaced with a 335i coupe!
