Will Turbo w/o Sport Chrono hurt resale down the road?

If I am not interested in lap time etc etc, but prefer a clean look of the dash. And would spend the $ on other options instead of the Sport Chrono, will this actually make it more difficult to trade it in down the road?

besiktas 09-20-2010 01:25 PM

it is very likely

Will get one in a few months, Sport Chorno and 6Spd are the most important.

I'm not sure it would hurt the resale price as much as it would take longer to sell since nearly everyone prefers to have it as an option.

It's more than just a lap timer so I would think that it would be more difficult to sell - dealer probably won't care on a trade although they would look for anything to subtract from the price.

it ll be a little harder to sell, but I am sure there are people out there who share your view. In fact I have seen posts before where people ask if there is any way they can remove the lap timer thing cause it looks ugly. So I wouldnt worry too much on it.

I've driven both modded and stock....the sport chrono is a necessity performance feature that really should not have been sold as an option but rather as standard.

There is a huge performance difference...don't purchase with out it.

Couldn't have stated it better and couldn't agree more!
Specially since the sport chrono package adds the dynamic engine mounts as well in the 997.2TT.

I would not buy a turbo without sport chrono.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, perfect place to get a survey ; D

When I was searching for my car it was one of the options I looked for first.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the sport chrono feature worthless if the owner decides to get an aftermarket tune and upgraded turbos?

Edited from an earlier thread; hope this helps:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...oes-sc-do.html
1. PSM (decreased interference with Sport Mode --- makes the PSM system less intrusive)
2. PASM (increased suspension stiffnes with Sport Mode by changing dampening rate of the coilover)
3. PTM (the 4WD system becomes more rearward bias -- more power to rear)
4. TCU -- Tiptronic (more "sporty" shift pattern)
5. ECU (increased turbo boost and very likely more aggressive ECU tuning)
6. ETC (more responsive electronic throttle control)

Lastly and perhaps most importantly, and could be entirely in my head http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...es/biggrin.gif, but I think Sport Chrono on, by making the 4wd system more rearward bias, also makes handling & steering feel more tossable & lighter, less "draggy" as could be felt in a 4WD car. This change in handling feel IMO could well be the most important effect of Sport Chrono. YMMV. <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Yep, it will hurt/limit your resale options. It's a must have, shouldn't have been an option, Porsche, Porsche, Porsche....

mdc I couldn't agree with you more on liking the clean looking dash. I'm wondering if anyone has any info/experience on ordering Sport Chrono without the dash wart?
