How do they compare? anyone run both (obviously at different times) with the same set up so that a fair comparison can be made?

Timing numbers are exactly the same for MS109 VS E85.

I believe you can boost more on E85 due to cooling nature of it.

E85 is $2/Gallon vs MS109 $10/Gallon

e85 is tough to find...only 2 places in the boston area and very out of the way...wish it were more available

what about the methanol kit i heard it gives u the same timing as well with pump gas !?

E85 burns a lot cleaner as well. Race gas always leaves a rusty colored residue in your exhaust

venkatreddytx: Timing tolerances between the fuels are NOT the same. On a 997 tt, if your tuner dials in timing to sit at lets say 15 degrees at WOT, the properties of MS109 and E85 are stable enough to both sustain 15 degrees. So with that said, the timing numbers will look the same. Its when you crank timing and boost up to the max threshold of what MS109 or E85 can take is where you start seeing differences between the 2 fuels.

Ive logged a bunch of data on both with no changes to mods and I will tell you where MS109 was starting to go into some knock sensing, E85 was not at higher boost pressures and at more aggressive timing settings. And youre right......alot of this stems from the cooling effects of E85.
