Sirius Satellite Antenna location

For those who have installed the sirius from NAVTV or Suncoast.

I did this install yesterday and after setting up the tooki and the NAVTV, I am stuck on where to put the antenna. I know it will go under the hood somewhere, but I would like to know where exactly would I get better reception.

Another question is how to secure it as well. Did you use glue? boogers? nails? This is all I have left.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how the 997 windshield is different from 996, but I replaced my head unit and used the stock NAV antenna location for Sirius and put the new NAV antenna right beside the stock location. Everything works perfectly.

I had PDA in Denver do mine and it is hidden very well. Where it is exactly I am not sure, I will check with them. However the reception will not Always be as good as trucks or SUV's because the car sits so low. XM is still great to have.

I put mine under the piece of plastic that covers the windshield wiper mechanism. Just used a piece of double stick emblem tape and put it in a spot where the antenna has a clear shot at the sky through the plastic. Worked great for 2 years till I removed it. I installed the entire Sirius sat system in the trunk connecting the fiber optic line and power to the Nav DVD player and routing the antenna cable up through the trunk and battery compartment to the spot under the windshield wipers. Total install time less than 1 hour.

I had mine in my '08 Turbo installed by the dealer and they put it where TXTURBO put his. Under the cowling for the wipers. I had the factory unit installed but it is no longer available due the the alliance with Porsche & XM. Not really a big deal since the merger of Sirius & XM.

Thanks a lot for all ur responses. I finally located a big and flat metal spot right under the passenger side wiper, now reception is spot on.

By the way TXTurbo, I did not know that the Navi DVD unit had power and optical connections. I do not have a CD changer, otherwise I would've used it. You sure u used the NAV unit and not the changer?
