Ya know Bogg for the life of me i have no idea why out of all the USA APR 997tt tune users that not one solitary person has the cahones to strap on a V box and do a 60 to 130 with both 93 and 109 to clear the air. I mean why the reluctance? That youtube clip clearly shows the car is very impressive yet the V Box is kept under lock and key. Chris green would surely have access to a V box?? I just don't get it. The way this is dragging on it may well come down to either you or me shaking that skeleton out of the closet by asking APR for a free trial. Thats the way its starting to look my friend. Im sure someone will provide a Vbox.

NO, i dont have any times... i have sent several e-mails to APR within the last week.... no response. I found an APR dealer nearby, didnt offer much info as he was trying to sell me one of his friends "custom" tunes.... im going with the EVOMSit 620 kit. So what you are saying, APR even with everything working perfectly, the Evomsit kills it every where? Wow! As i said earlier that is very BIG news if what you say is true.

I'm a firm believer that your butt dyno can give you an immediate impression of any performance gains and driveability improvements and the V box being the ultimate tell all. Flunati1 i really think you really owe it to yourself and everyone here following this thread to get hold of a V box and do a 60 to 130 with 93 oct and also 100 or 109 oct prior to booting your APR tune in the guts and, effectively into orbit. That way it will prove you are not making any ambit claims. Can you do that for us all please?

as far as Vbox times go... too late... car is apart... i cant comment on the times but after all the questioning that i have gone through with other tuners they all said the same.... APR has one tune, wouldnt mess around with upgrades without changing certain parameters on the ECU... just changing a cold air intake needs proper tuning changes for the best performance or its a waste of money to upgrade other bolt ons... intercoolers, turbos etc... one thing i will try to do is get some times with the new tune.... i know skandalis and the other guys in Greece have some pretty crazy times, theyre in greece... different fuel, additives etc, ??? sea level humidity etc.... no one here or any where else has proven these times... i cant even get an answer from APR about updating/upgrading there tune after addding intercoolers and later on down the road... turbos.... i do know though that the guys at Evoms where more than confident that there 620/650 kit would beat out my current tune... i guess we'll see.... the only times i can find with this kit are 0-60 in 3.1 and 1/4 mile in 10.9 at 128 actually in my same car but again who knows all the environmental parameters....

what i really would like to know is how APR is pulling 650 lbs of torque with just a tune??? as would the other notable tuners... there is only so much you can do to an ECU to squeeze all it has without burning out other parts... i dont know... and why did they stop at 540hp when other tuners are pulling close to 600 with just exhaust mods... again, i dont understand alot of this stuff......

Like yourself, i dont understand how they do it either. But thats not to say they havent achieved it. The Greek guys surely cant be having a complete lend of everyone here on the 6....i just dont believe that. Sure, they may have some favourable variables that may be working to their favor somehow but where madsex343 is concerned i am fully aware of what tunes he's tested and for him to say the APR is the best he's used is saying quite a lot.....actually a hell of a lot. Afterall he had the choice the select any tune he wanted after trying many of them and he chose the APR for his new car in favor. Im not saying the Evoms is a bad tune at all but to say its faster than the APR is a very very big call without a Vbox test....especially knowing what ive been told.

Eitherway, i congratulate you on your decision and wish you only the best with your choice, but i honestly think you have missed a unique opportunity by not at least Vboxing your APR prior to scrapping it.

who said anything about it being faster cause its more money?? Really both evoms and apr stage1 tunes cost the same if im not mistaken,,, evom starts to increase in price as you add stuff on to it... headers, exhaust, intercoolers, turbos, valves etc...
i am naive to 60-130 times... im used to 1/4 mile times, can someone explain to me its significance??? i have seen great 60-130 times but have noticed that there are some lower 1/4 mile times with higher 60-130 times?? look... some people swear that vanilla tastes better than chocolate... which is better??

Who would want to waste there time & $ on a tuner that no one can get a hold of , thats the problem here .Everyone on his thread who has tried to contact APR has gotten no reply, they may have a great product but they aren't around to stand behind it for some reason. Most TT owners have worked long & hard to get there TT & there not gonna risk there investment on a company that won't get back to them with simple questions.
Good luck Flunati with your'e current tuner & the piece of mind you'll have when they answer the phone when you have a question.

Actually I found APR fairly easy to contact, especially through our sponsors here on 6speed GMP and USP.

As far as communication...every company/tuner has it's ups and downs:

That unfortunately pretty well sums it up OS. I would've said the purchase of a sub 500 usd Vbox would have made for a very cheap insurance policy to confirm a decision like this as being sound. Just imagine the Kudos for Evomsit if it was formally proven to be the faster of the two. It would be on of the greater stories and threads of 2010!!

I sure dont get this one .

My understanding is 60 to 130 times are in general a good measure of how hard the car accelerates in the most frequently used speed range.
I hear what you say with the vanilla and the chocolate but you did say the Evomsit tune was night and day better than the APR going by your butt dyno so i guess that means you feel its way faster? So faster must be an important goal for you somewhere.

I agree with that but ive found ive been able to get hold of them when ever ive tried but it was just the lack of intelligent answers i had a big problem with. That is a big worry for sure. It's good to be able to speak with someone who at least knows something intelligent about what they are selling. As i said Evomsit is without doubt proven to be a great tune for many users so no issue there. Its just the lack of quality evidence that the tune Evomsit tune is faster.....and vice versa.

Thats true Bob. And with APR as i said when ever i've tried ive always got someone to answer the phone but its been the lacl of being able to get good info, thats been my experience. Not very confidence inspiring i must admit but is it good enough reason to change the tune??....i just dont know. I'd be looking for some tangible comparative data beforehand. Anyways.....each to his own.

The mystery continues..

Hey Flunati; I got to check out your beast when I was at TKX today, love the wheels. TKX and EVOMS tend to have a really good relationship, and no matter which parts you choose, they ship OVERNIGHT to TKX all the time... As Taso talked me into my EVO build; they were quick with all the parts, and as far as tuning; they do their flashing in house.
Best of luck to you with whichever package you choose.
