Newb looking at a 997 TT
Newb looking at a 997 TT
Hello everyone,
I'm looking at a 2007/2008 turbo, coupe, 6 speed. What are some things to look for in a used TT? I'm aware that I should have pre-purchase inspection done, but what should I look for before getting to the point of sending a car in for a ppi? I really like the stock look, so I'm not really looking at anything with aftermarket wheels, body kits, et cetera. What are the commonly worn items at 20,000-30,000 miles? Thanks in advance for any help.

I like having a CPO.
The 07 I just purchased was heavily optioned out - the options seem to depreciate more quickly than the car. List price on my car was $156K, but it wasn't much more expensive than other 07 TTs I saw with far fewer options - and my car had 12K miles on it.

1) CarFax is a MUST!
2) If you plan on driving this car somewhat near its limits, Porsche certification isn't a bad idea as well.
You want to know that the car is in excellent working condition when you hit 150 mph+ the first time. You may think, "I'll never go that fast" and you may not... but on an open highway with a clear view, you'll soon learn that the difference between 100 mph and 150+ is just a few seconds (especially if you modify). That's precisely not the time you want to remember that the car was never thoroughly vetted
Having said this, you're asking the right questions at the right time!
