Vent, how about ease of engagment? No more difficult than stock with your particular setup (ok for daily driver?)? It seems like you are saying it's actually now better and easier?

Why did you mentioned these other things please: release bearing, pilot bearing, ring gear, bolts etc.?
I mean, are these things that I have to mention to installer to be replaced? TIA.

lol. I feel your pain. I have the same setup. The rattle doesn't bother me much, but the engagement is really tricky. Add a clutch stop sold by RSS and you can lower the engagement point.

Oh man so glad some one else feels the same way about the notchy 2nd gear.
I fully depress the clutch to the floor and still have to bang it into 2nd sometimes.

if a lower engagement point does the trick I'm all for it.

Can

The effort needed to push in the clutch is still just like stock, the engagement is lower, OEM which is high and odd. It is definitely fine for daily driving and that
is how I use mine(DD). This I don't know why but the shifting is much better maybe due to LWFW making the sync much faster.

Charles

The kit from Todd.K fixed the issue with notchy 2nd gear engagement and moved the take take up point closer to the floor like is should be unlike stock which is high.

The only time the higher engagement becomes an issue is when the light turns and I wasn't paying attention. I release the clutch too fast and stall it. Usually at a light or on a hill I will release the clutch 80% of the way up, right before it engages, so that I'm ready to input some gas more accurately. Was a bit tricky at first but I've got it now. I will likely look into the clutch stop though. Every time I let my friends drive the car they about kill us b/c they've stalled in an intersection or snapped our necks b/c they gave it too much gas in fear of stalling it. Maybe I should stop letting friends drive my baby. I just hate it when I tell them it has a hard clutch and they just roll their eyes like I'm a ****ty driver.

lol... I've actually had a valet hand me my keys and tell me that they can't modulate the clutch and the only guy who could drive it went home, so I have to pull out the car myself.

I just bought the RSS clutch stop. I guess I was thinking it was something else to actually change the engagement point. This gizmo seems exactly like what I need. I'm a little unsure about getting rid of the clutch sensor but I'm the only one that drives my car and I leave it in neutral when parked.

You will like it. It's adjustable, so you can adjust the catch point to your liking.

Sorry to hear that SB. I'm sure its a strong clutch set up but the Sachs on the dual mass definately has the edge where street use and drivability is concerned. When yours wears out you may need to revisit your options.

Youre right Ed. The LWFW is the culprit on that rattle. I wasn't prepared for that level of compromise mine being a DD and all....so it was dual mass all the way . I think one really needs to weigh up the benefits of using the LWFW vs living with a rattle (that some of us may never really get used to) before pulling that trigger .

For those interested, the table below lists the Sachs plates; Paul uses the 764 and this is the one that is recommended by most. Don't use 752, even if yours is only stage 2 (exhaust and ECU); it's not strong enough. I know, I have to re-edit this table.
Thanks for posting the chart up Cann....you saved me the job. I have one on file myself and as you can see by the ratings the 764 is the better way to go especially given the small price differential between the 752. I think the 752 is still good PP but it must be getting close to the very end of its reliability factor for many of the tunes outputs, and in many cases somewhat under gunned particularly over the long haul of sustained wot pulls such as on the track etc. The ratings of the Sachs performance P/Plate range exemplifies how the stock clutch must be just holding on by its fingernails at very best...that is if it is. Thats what i mean by when i say many probably wont know if and how much their clutch has really been slipping until they change it out and feel for any differences there. Im sure there will be some . Its definitely a necessary mod imo....i can honestly say that i feel the benefits just using the stock file so its going to be a blast once she's bed in nicely and ive re flashed the tune file back in.

I was told by Todd.K this is best LWFW/Clutch Kit combo and I believe him.

More expensive the Clutch Masters LWFW/Clutch Kit combo but worth it.
Yep Todd would definitely know his stuff on what goes best with what.
It sounds a great set up....excepting for the rattle.

The Sachs 973 plate is solid....no springs. The OEM plate is sprung. Crazy thing is its a reel struggle to identify any differences in operation...if any. I just got out of my car an hour back after not driving it for 2 days and i forgot totally that i had a different clutch. The feel is quite hard to pick. And the pick up point is only ever so slightly closer to the floor. You've really got to think about it all very closely to pick the differences....i was driving for about 10 minutes before i remembered...and then smiled thinking how good is this!! This is one mod im quite happy not to notice .

I thought the OEM clutch disc was unsprung, which would make sense since there is a dual mass flywheel. Is that not right?

This thread has become an excellent one because of the very good users' reviews -- very pertinent info.

Vent, did you get the whole set from Todd, or did he just gave you the part numbers and you had to buy them yourselves?
