Windshield protection

Has anyone installed "Clear Plex" or another film on the windshield for 997.2 or Turbo S?

I have some questions:
1. Do the wipers scratch the film?
2. Does it clean up year over year or is a slow degradation until it gets replaced?

A friend of mine did a couple of years ago. He was not a fan, too many starbursts
from headlights after a short time using the wipers. The wipers pick up sand and can scratch it almost immediately. Get a sample and try it on your vehicle and a couple of others and see how long it lasts for your expectations. Seems it works OK overall, but needs to be replaced annually due to wear.

I do not know if it is legal for installation on windshield. But can always get removed, if necessary.

I did.
Wipers do scratch the film if u activate them in dry windshield. And you'll have to replace them whenever u feel that the vision in your car turns a bit blury. Usually in a year or less.
Though clear film doesn't protect your windshield 100%, on dirty roads in high speeds there will be still stone marks left, yet better than having no protection at all.

Thanks guys, can you tell me when you had it on the car. I hear the new stuff is better at keeping it's clarity and not getting wiper marks. I would like to get the product if it will perform as described in the web-ercial. if not, I would pass and take my chances. i have glass coverage, I just want to keep my factory seal and overall integrity. I need to replace a windshield on my truck now as it is.

Used it for two years on my wife's MB GL 320CDI. It never once scratched but we always made sure the windshield was wet when activating the wipers.
Have it on my MB CLK BS. There are a few imperfections this time, but difficult to see from looking out.
This is a great product that will protect your windshield from pitting and from all but the heaviest trauma. The initial clarity is heavily dependent on the skill of the installer; so check references if you can.
For about $150 installed it is great insurance; and worth replacing annually if necessary.
