Each one managed to ding, scratch and even break something on my car. The most horrific one was fetching my car one day, and as the guy pulled around the corner, I noticed the driver's side mirror hanging down by the wires. Couldn't absolve himself because I left the car there only about an hour before in perfect condition. Mumbled, made some excuses, but for once, I caught them redhanded.

If you're okay with your car coming out a bit more beat up each time you take it out, then by all means, live and park in Manhattan. Otherwise, find another hobby or move out of the city. It's all about speed and how many cars they can cram in their little spaces. These #*@holes don't care one little bit about your car.

if you still live on the UES then i can give you a couple of lots that will accomodate and allow you to park the car yourself and take the keys with you... thats what i've been doing for last 4 years...

That's my guess too in the Op's example.
A professional detailer can fix it . Agreed.

Head over to Mineola and see Matt at Detailing Dynamics.

Then don't ever park there again, or move from NYC so you don't have that freaking hassle. I love NYC, but I'd need heavy meds to park my Porsche in the city.

Norman, I lived in manhattan for a few years as well and parking in lots is almost as bad as parking on the streets, these attendants damage so many cars and try to pass it along.

The best advice I can give to you is basically speak to the manager again, tell him you want a spot right by the entrance off to some obscure corner and that you want to park and take the keys with you, for that you will give him a handsome monetary gift on the spot as well as an extra monetary gift for the holidays (more than the usual). Stinks that this is what needs to be done but in the city money talks, and well, you know the rest.....

Best of luck and if you need any sort of Porsche related help, just let me know

I would go bananas if someone washed my car in a garage. I can only imagine the "fine, micro-fiber cloths" and other proper tools they used Guy probably used an old pair of jeans.

I didn't even allow the dealer I bought my car from to do the detail/prep. told them to deliver it to me dirty.

I've even left a sticky on the dash when going to the dealer saying "do not wash".

Glad to see that I am not the only crazy-**** Turbo owner out there Taking care of our toys is an effort but it is well worth the hassle of finding the right parking garage, parking lots with end spots, etc. It is amazing how much mayhem occurs on these cars by careless lot attendants and idiots that don't know how to park. I guess everything can be fixed at a price but it sure is annoying. I agree with E55AMG, never let any dealer wash the car for you unless you want some nice scratches, etc.
Nobody treats the car with the same respect as the owner, end of story...

I thought a scratch was a welcome sign in Manhatten...we visted the City last year and stayed at the TRUMP the valet took my wife's New Escalade to park it and when we got home she discovered a ding in the door...we got an email from the manger thanking us for the stay. I replied your valet put a ding in the new vehicle so they replied welcome to New York.....of coures all of my P. cars stayed home for the trip

I think this is a problem in any big city...if you could look at how they treat cars in Rome's parkings you would have goose bumps for the horror...

Anyway I would get it detailed and, as Djantlive suggested, send the bill to the garage, with a letter from a lawyer.

Last fall I went to S Francisco with a rental car, it got dinged in a garage, and I had to "fight" with the rental company to not have the damage charged on my credit card...in the end they wanted to be nice since I rented their cars for 21days.

on the topic of Porsche related help.... how / where do you wash your car regularly? I have been going to a self wash lot - but can be a pain.

Also - do you have a detailer that you like / trust?

thank you!
