I have an idea. Shotcaller. You are local to us, correct? How about you come by the shop Tuesday when I'm back in the office and I'll take you for a full tour. If the GT2 is still there you can even check it out with your own eyes. You can then come back to the forum as a neutral third party and report back on what you see. Maybe we can finally put the skepticism to bed. Lunch will be my treat.

Hey Tom: Hopefully the GT2 will be in my hands for the 1st break-in. Mr. Shotcaller can wait until we insert the new gears, Clutch, and possible engine (internal) build. hilarious

Haha it was just an idea. :)

What about low boost ( pumpgas numbers ) ?

Powell Mar 5, 2011 11:29 PM

Have any of these setups seen a drag strip or 60-130? I'd expect the 780rwhp to run 145+mph in the 1/4 and low low 5s in the 60-130.

[QUOTE
So far these 68mm turbos have been responsible for 788 whp on our 6 speed 997 Turbo at 23psi, 688whp on 4 different 997 Turbo tiptronic cars at 23psi, and now 750 on a GT2 with back on what you see. [/QUOTE]

So at the same boost (23 psi) your 997 turbo did 788whp and the other 4 cars you did made 688whp:confused: is that due to tiptronic transmition? 100 whp difference???

Slow911TT68Tip Mar 6, 2011 01:58 AM

I believe you will find the following (I think )

1. The Turbos on the Tips are slightly different than that on the manual.
2. The efficiency of the Tips and more specifically the oil bath is the culprit versus the more abundant oil flow found in the manual

milou Mar 6, 2011 02:08 AM

The turbos on tip and manual are identical

Slow911TT68Tip Mar 6, 2011 02:16 AM

Milou - if it's not the turbos it is the programming but again turbos are new to me - I am a convert from the centri SC world.

milou Mar 6, 2011 04:39 AM

I'll wait for Tom to answer that then ;) I don't see the point of running the same boost but cut timming down to reduce power, so its not programming ;)

100WHP is HUGE difference, Tom please don't say that you mistyped :)

with this power 100-200kms/h should be in the mid 4s.. Cant wait for some vbox performance data!

Arone997tt Mar 6, 2011 06:18 AM

I promised Tom that would get Vbox numbers ASAP, I am 1 of 688 tip cars (i think mine may even have a bit more)! I should have car back to me sometime next week..even planning 1/4 mile track run, once it opens up for season...then we can put all this skepticism to rest once and 4 all!!!
