^Aaah, you're right. So an RT12 conversion is only possible if you buy the 650hp engine.

Engine-wise, yes, but you can't get a RUF VIN. You can probably buy every custom RUF part, so you can make you own RUF RT12 (S), but no VIN.

Here's the pdf in german of the conversion details:

http://www.rufauto.us/ruf/images/sto...ch-12.2008.pdf

On the 996 however, the conversion packages were known as RTurbo, just as the RUF VIN cars were. So you could buy RUF RTurbo or if you owned a Porsche, could have the RTurbo engine conversion performed on you car.
That's not completely accurate, admittedly it's not as clear cut with the 997s. The RT12 ( "RUF Turbo 12th version") is a RUF VIN car. The 997.1TT conversions are still known as RTurbos, I have a letter of authenticity from RUF stating that I have a 550 hp RTurbo conversion.

Every time I look at Ruf posting.. I say to myself..you screwed up! I was going to order a Ruf in 2003 and end up with a normal 2003 GT2 Could Have / Should Have!

"This is the new RUF RT 12 R, a track-focused version of RUF’s ultimate 911-based model on show at Geneva this week.
The RT 12 (for 12th generation of RUF-tuned 911 Turbos) has received a power boost for the R model, taking its output to 730hp and torque to 693lb ft. The car receives a prominent rear wing similar to the one fitted to the GT3 RSR race car, and also gets a carbon fibre bonnet and front bumper. Inside, a new grade of steel has been used for the integral roll cage – saving 8kg – and the interior is stripped of luxuries.

According to Alois Ruf this makes the car ‘spartanic’ which we think we like the sound of, and most suitable to fast lappery at the ‘Ring.

The RT 12 is also available in ‘S’ tune, with 620hp and 605lb ft of torque, and with the option of a PDK gearbox as well as the 6-speed manual.

Also on the Ruf stand is the CTR3 mid-engined supercar (half in shot...), the 8-pot 911 (the RGT-8) and the E-Ruf with retro Targa body."

Now that's what I was talking about... a RUF RT12 S. What Porsche left for RUF: a 911 TT (PDK) on steroids...

The RT12S does not have PDK, and is based on a 3.8L version of the M64 block. The only report of PDK comes from PH, and those who are quoting PH.

"Tuesday we had a preview at this car, which followed by an official release of the RUF RT12R at the Geneva Motor Show today.
Based on the Porsche 997, RT12 R is the next generation RT12 S. The RT12 R is specially designed for racing and is extremely lightweight. It weighs only 1495kg and has a 3.8 liter twin-turbo engine. The total output is 730hp at 7,000rpm and a maximum torque of 940Nm at 3,500rpm. The top speed is over 370km/h.
Significant features include a higher front fender for both aerodynamics and aesthetics. Like the RT12 S the R has a wide rear with additional air inlets. The ceramic brake discs measure a diameter of 380mm front and 350mm rear. The forged aluminium wheels have central locking and size 9J x 19 front and 12J x 19 rear. The rims are outfitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres, 245/35 ZR 19 front and 325/30 ZR 19 rear.

The RT 12 is also available as a S-version, with 620hp and with the option of a PDK gearbox as well as the six-speed manual.
The RT12 R costs 279,000 euro excluding taxes."

As quoted by Gtspirit.com

And anyway, i contacted Ruf regarding their sequential box, they told me the current one only handles 650Nm, so they don't recommend that to customers but I'm sure the PDK can handle far more

I stand corrected - thank you for posting this. Did they mention which engine is being mated with the PDK transmission? Because if they are now using the A91, it is a departure from their current RT12S http://www.ruf-automobile.de/en/Rt-12-S.526a2.php
