I created this thread to show that videos are very deceptive and depend on many varaibles: fuel amount, octane, driver, tire condition. Then I stated that based on numbers I have seen the turbo s is faster, I have stated nothing else.

Please tell me based on this video evidence, which is faster from a dig:

I own both cars - the turbo s without a doubt is quicker from a launch, and the 458 isn't a slouch. The mid range is much closer........ but the 458 sound is so incredible that I couldn't care either way. Both cars are great fun.

 

Magazine tests can involve all of the same variables.

I don't know. The video didn't show which car actually won the race. Plus, roll-on vids with dual-clutch transmission cars are a lot different than races from a dig. Less variables are involved (this applies to timeslips and magazine tests as well).

Here's a video for you. Stock 458 does 11.2 @ 132. No stock Turbo 'S' has trapped faster than 129 as far as I'm aware. So this video seems to back up the other videos showing that from a roll, the 458 is indeed faster car.

If you look at my first post you can see that the turbo s would have finished 0.5 seconds earlier (road and track). How much speed it would have after 11.2seconds, I dont know, but suspect atleast as much as the 458.

Honestly, if you have similarly powered cars, who ever slams the throttle first wins and the winner can post a nice video on the internet. However, if you would have a vbox you could compare them (factually) even if there is a difference in the drivers reactions. Can you understand this?

My point simplified: If you have a video where the other guy is slower in reaction, you may have a result where car A is in fron of car B, but if you look at their performace figures from vbox, car B may still be the faster car.</here's>

 

You are very lucky. In Finland that combination would be 1.1 million dollars worth of automobiles!

I also agree the 458 is one of the best looking cars out there at the moment.

 

...and if one of the drivers of the cars with the vbox performance figures didn't shift at redline, went up an incline during the run, had a different density altitude, had two people in the car, used a lower quality fuel (even with the same octane), had low tire pressures, let off the throttle too soon, had heat soak from previous runs...that data would be inaccurate as well. The point is that many variables exist in both scenarios.

However, in a video of both cars going head-to head, over and over again, regardless of which driver started accelerating first, the 458 continually reeled in the Turbo 'S' at high speeds. I also posted a video of a 458 trapping 132 mph, faster than any Turbo S that I'm aware of.

You can argue this until the cows come home, but it doesn't change the fact that using all available data, the 458 seems to be measurably faster at high speeds.
