Question 2012 650i or CPO 997.1 TT Cab ?

I know this is an obvious answer to us, but my dads lease is ending in June for his 2008 650i. He says hes looking for a "keeper"
and I'm trying to get him to lean over to a Porsche, we went to the bimmer dealer yesterday and he spoke to a sales man and he tricked him into looking at some of the new 2012 650's that he still has some allocations left for. I let them talk and as soon as we left the dealer I told him your better off in the Turbo. We went to the Porsche dealer by my house and we were looking at some CPO'd Turbo cabs and the price was only about a 12,000 dollar difference. The dealer was closed so we didnt get to talk in depth about the car. So I need your help on giving me reasons why the Turbo would be a much better car. He says hes looking for a weeked toy. Thanks for all of the help in advance.

AgentSteel is infamous around these parts
What is there to reason? The test drive will say it all. Either way, both are nice cars, but very different.

It depends on what he wants out of the car. The 997.1 lacks a lot of amenities that the .2 has and the new 650 will have much more. Not that the tt is not comfortable for DD but compared to the 650 it is no where near as comfortable and filled with luxury. The tt has the edge when it comes to a more thrilling driving experience.
Out of 5 different bmw's I had, the 650 was by far my favorite. And the new one really does peak my interest.
So again, what does he value more:
-luxury, more comfort, and the latest amenities = 650
-more thrilling ride, great looks, great reliability, already depreciated = TT

Why doesnt he just buy the 08 650? They are much better looking than the new model

Given that 650i is much more luxorious and can well be a dd, if you dad needs a weekend toy then a turbo can be easily justified.....TT cabs are definitely not good DDs so depends on what he wants...let us know how he makes out eitherway

TT is a weekend toy... 650 is a DD. That doesn't mean it can't be the other way around but these are the most logical choices for their purposes
