A logical concern about ecu flash and warranty

I do not have a flash and when this happened I was relieved about that.
<O</O
Last week, I got two error codes first was “Sport Mode Failure”, followed by “Transmission Failure”, with a warning not to drive the car.
<O</O
I didn’t drive and had the car towed to the dealer. The dealer could find nothing wrong and noted the error codes on the ecu. I’m satisfied that is was something errant.
<O</O
Big problem is that if car was flashed the dealer would see that as there was no way to reflash. If car was driven to location where it could be reflashed it could have caused serious problems. Either way the warranty would be voided.
<O</O
All cars, especially these are prone to this sort of thing and should be expected.
<O</O
So, what do you think about flash knowing this?

If you don't mind me asking, what were you doing when the failures occurred? On the track, or just normal street driving?

Passive aggressive! Sport Plus/Manual. Shifting ~ 5.5-6.

Driving to work. Bridgestone tires 8500 miles.

Dealer said that there is a factory recall for an exhaust sensor and they replaced that.

Have driven 100 miles since then and no problem.

You must have a decent dealer. I guess they could have given you grief about having aftermarket exhaust and how that may contribute to the sensor going bad... My dealer is cool and believe it or not endorses performance upgrades, including aftermarket tune.

about those computer gliches.....Best to always turn off the engine and restart. Sometimes if restarting doesn't work, turn off and wait for another 5 minutes before restarting. ..... in most cases these are erased, I get these gliches a lot and would have to get an apartment next to the dealership if I responded to them all the time.
The more miles on my turbo, the more lights start flashing on the dash.

Before changing the exhaust I spoke to all the local service managers to understand how they felt about mods. They were all OK with aftermarket exhaust but only one would touch a car with a flash. The dealer that would do work on a car that was flashed said that they would look the other way. Not a good feeling.

Porsche dealers around NE are very conservative.

BTW the FVD sport exhaust (loud) is totally awesome. I’ve owned a few Ferraris and although not quite that, still very nice sound. With the warm weather & the top down, doesn’t get much better!
