Driving
Spent an amazing day on June 4th 2009 driving the cars in the pictures at the Renault "Feel-It-Day programme" . It was an experience of a lifetime. A full day program leading up to driving the Renault F1. The torque and G's were amazing. A medic takes everyones vitals befor driving, and my blood pressure and pulse were way up!! I was slightly concerned, but was told, in a very strong French accent, that it was normal in such a situation! No amount of mods will ever get me there! Was cleaning out my pic's, and had to share. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/spe...-1111115154175
It was definitely an experience of a lifetime guys. Wish I could do it again. I was really lucky to get invited to the event, but I believe you can pay to go. Not sure if you could back when I did it, but I recently saw something about that. The institution that invited me was a sponsor for the Renault team, but they dropped funding due to the financial crisis, and increased scrutiny on expenses. As such, no more invitations for me!! It was in the South of France, and the weather was just perfect, however, it got pretty hot in the full body suit. They gave us a sugary mix to keep drinking all day to stay hydrated. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

First gear, in the car, was locked out, so we had to start in 2nd. Apparently, someone had spun out in the pit at some point in the past, so for safety reasons, we had to start in 2nd gear. Required slipping the clutch, but I was told the clutch is indestructible. I have a short video of the start-up, but it’s a large file, and I can’t get it posted. The cars idle at around 6K rpm, and redline was around 12K if I remember correct. The whine of the engine under full acceleration, and smell of fuel was intoxicating. Like being in car heaven! As we were told at the beginning of the day, and several times during the class room sessions, "It's loud, it's fast, it's Formula 1".
