Drove a new Turbo S Today...
At this weekends Kentucky Porsche Club DE I had the extreme fortune to drive my students new Turbo S at Putnam Park Road Course and I thought I would share my thoughts. First, it’s an absolutely awesome car!!! Great power, great looks and PDK is fantastic. I had mixed emotions about the Torque Vectoring technology and I’m far from an expert on this, but the steering response, turn in feel and stability was very impressive. The car is certainly heavier and less “nimble” than a GT3, but it is really a pretty good track car for 99%+++ of the driving world and would be a blast to drive it everyday.
Now from the “for what it’s worth” department. I own a 2007 997.1 Turbo ( Tip ) with the following mods: TPC Stage 3+ Suspension, APR ECU Flash ( running 93 Octane ), FVD Brombacher Straight Pipes, Girodisc rotors, Padgid RS29 pads, Sparco DTM seat and harness, Hoosier R6 tires....and my car is every bit as good as the Turbo S. On the track I am significantly faster in my car. Of course I was not pushing my students $150K+ car very hard, but I could tell that without some suspension work the Turbo S was lacking. I am not knocking the Turbo S at all...in fact it really is a fantastic car, but if someone wants a great DD and a great track toy go buy a 997.1 TT, spend $5K to $8K on TPC suspension, $2K for APR flash, $1K to $4K for some kind of exhaust, $2K to $4K for new brakes, and $3K to $5K for good track seats and you’ll run circles around the GT3’s and new Turbos and save yourself $60K to $70K. I hate “car envy” and am happy I was able to avoid it!

I love to hear it. I bought a used 07 997tt, added TPC stage 3 suspension, flash/tune, EP2, headers and a set of wheels (and a 9500ci). Car is perfect for me and cost me about what a new loaded C2s would have cost, or close to it.
Interesting, I actually came dangerously close to joining the tts club today. Just not enough of a difference to make me jump.
The car is fantastic in every way, as an S should be. If anybody is in the market pm me.
Question, how do you like the girodisc arrangement, I thought about this move some time ago?
