Much better handling, a little noisy on ****ty roads but that's it. Not reducing over and understeer tho. Not firmer, specially the 997 run so smooth anyway, nothing like the 996 GT2 that was more of a kart.

I invested a lot of money on my GT2 but it's worth it, easy to make it a fast car. First of all, go for ML20 Braille battery and you will save 50 pounds right away. Weight at the back, Bose subwoofer, GT3 Cup rear lexan glass (700$), electric power steering from PMNA, titanium headers from akrapovic etc...

Wow lot to learn. And I thought that all I was going to do was give it a tune.

The difference between the GT2 RS and the GT2 is minimal. For 30k, you have a much faster car. For 100k, you have a little bomb.

Wow !!! I am speechless . It's nice to pick a thread where all of the top tier cars boil down to one choice . I don't blame you for being confused .

So much depends on your driving needs with the car. I looked at your signature line to get an idea .. and that makes it really tough .

I can't imagine driving a Gt3 RS or a GT2 to the movies in San Diego . How does one insert some practical use ? Granted .. it doesn't rain a lot (been there many times) . I point at weather because driving a track car on the street subjects it and the driver to a variety of road conditions in a less controlled environment. Parking a track car on the street and unwanted attention .. is another concern.

Then i ponder the Turbo S .. the ideal daily driver in many ways . Yet with So cal mountains and curves and the many inclines where that front lip can scrape I start weighing that agaist the car you already have .. which stalemates me .. when I consider the cost involved in making the transition .

So i think .. what would i do if price was no object, and i had to drive it daily ?
and i can't reach an answer . That's part of why i have two of these cars . Picking one is really that hard .

I look forwardc to reading what you end up choosing.

The thing is the turbo is really boring at the track and the gt2 is perfect if you are not hardcore track guy. The day you start tracking more your car than driving it in the streets, no matters if it's a gt2 rs or gt3 rs, you will want a gt3 cup to lap like it should be.

But there is no problem driving a gt2 in the streets, super smooth (if you go with a single mass flywheel with a racing clutch the story will be different). Suspension is super smooth, a easy and relax drive in the city. Nothing hardcore in a gt2.

Dont know where you got the idea that a turbo is boring at the track

I do agree that the awd does make it a bit more cumbersome when compared to the GT2 but in no way should it be categorized as "boring".

You always have such an interesting insight into things. It is a hard very hard choice and we are blessed to have such. I agree that the tts is the most ideal DD, and the 3rs or gt2 would get more attention and less secure to leave parked at the movie theater. Around here a gt2 is not recognizable to most and is dull in the bling factor compared to f-cars and bentleys which are all over.

The other day I was standing outside about 30 feet away from my c2s and a group of people walked by and the lady said "we should get a white car like that" and the guy responded with "Yeah its a carrera s" and the lady responded with "NO, its a porsche"

There are certain parts of town, like near the airport, which have many steep inclines that are dangerous to the front spoiler but most other areas have hills that which are not that steep. But I would have to really remind my wife of the front spoiler everytime she drives or else it a goner. She loves driving stick especially on fast sports cars. She is a good driver but not very attentive to things like the front spoiler.
Will let you know what happens.

Steep incline can be fixed with a lift kit.

A black gt2 is a sleeper.

Don't get me wrong, a turbo is a great car in the streets but at the track it's a little boring. Too heavy, 4 wheels drive etc...

The GT2 feel too heavy also at the track. The suspension on those cars are a bit of a joke also. If you don't care about SC + TC, put some Moton (or Ohlins) shocks 3 ways and you will see a huge difference (2-3 secs a lap but you will need someone to adjust it for you because it can be slower if you don't know what you are doing).

Weight is killing at the track!

Waiting to get a 2011 Cup at the end of the season.

You havea lot of decision making to do . Ideally .. trading in your 09 car and getting both a Gt3RS and a Turbo s satisfies the best of both worlds . It's just astronomically expensive and excessive . I almost dod it myself and am glad I thought it through and chose not to .

Somewhat of a midpoint would be to keep your current car and buy a Turbo . Although with used prices holding strong you may get a decent trade in and if now now is the time to do it.

The Rs really isn;t a street car . The Gt2 can be a street car allthough in Florida where it can rain several inches in just a few minutes it may sideline it . In San Diego .. if it does rain on the rare occasion those slippery roads can be hairy in a Gt2.

I am leaning to0wards the Turbo S Vs Gt2. One is exclusive , rare, and has a Gt1 engine .. an icon . The other is the fast , practical, gadget filled, luxury power car .

Tough choice. It's so much cheaper to just keep yoir car and save the money and next time a lady says " it's a Porsche" just say " excuse me mam .. it's MY Porsche and i love it " .

I think I saw somewhere that the lift costs around $7k to add aftermarket.

I got to drive the car this morning and will probably do the contract on Monday and pickup on Tues. My impression: compared to my c2s it was of course much faster, but what surprised me was how much more crisp the steering and handling were. The clutch and gear box felt amazing. It was very smooth and comfortable and I see no problem driving it half the week and my ctt the other half. And Larry, I will make sure that it wont see rain. Because I am getting this car with around 8k miles and $85k less then it stickered for its hard to go wrong with it at this point. By the way I had a PPI done and it was pristine, no overrevvs in 4,5,6, and only a handful in 3.
As long as things go as planned I will post picks when I bring it home.

Thanks
Guys.

Congratulations on your GT2, zzzSpeed! I think you'll love it and that it'll grow on you the longer you drive it. It has certainly worked that way for me. Bought mine new in 2008, have 16,800 miles on it. Just took it up to Julian for lunch with my wife on a weekday (very little traffic) spur-of-the-moment drive. Just got it back from its annual service and had to make sure everyting worked properly. I8 to S1 (Sunrise Highway -- as a San Diegan you must know these roads). Only car on that wonderful road. Then 79 to Julian.

Mine has been absolutely trouble free. Have had it serviced by the book by Pioneer Porsche. Only challenge has been a flat rear tire on two separate occasions while in the wilds of Northern California and Utah. The Porsche dealers in Reno and Las Vegas both came through with a one-day delivery of a new tire. Getting to the dealers was a bit more of a challenge, but it worked. Enjoy it -- it's a true driver's car. Not too many of those available anymore.
