new 991

I like them. Of course I like all porches, except the suv's.
I also heard ( I may have read it in car and driver) they are making a hybrid version of this car that is supposed to accelerate a lot faster than the gas one...

I find it funny how slim the tail lamps are given how big the 911 is getting, but then they put the big bugeye headlamps on the front which seem appropriate given the dimensions. Something isn't cohesive about this look.

yeah it is longer than the 997 but the rear end has still the same width as the 997, only the front end and -track have become wider.
the headlights are more longitudinal now as well. almost like the racecars of the 70s:

with the 997 , porsche gave us that 993 style headlight.
it seems with the 991, it looks like they were going with the 964 style headlight, but one of the designers got run over by an alfa romeo c8 and....... voila the 991

it seems they are trying to bring back thinner rear lights like the original 911s, but its nothing close to the old designs. The new 991 is losing the 911 identity from the rear...

Humm.. I'm still on the fence about the new design. The front lower light looks odd. I like the rear, but it reminded me of Jaguar. Like before with any new design, we'll have to see it in person!

I'm not sure what Porsche could do that wouldn't draw fire. If they change the car radically, then they are messing with an icon. I just don't see them going too crazy with it. Surely they would approach something like the 911 styling with caution. If they don't change a thing, what's there to get excited about? People will lament the lack of change and say it's getting stale. Perhaps there are small changes they could of made in a better way, but I suspect they were going for a larger audience while trying to keep the "purist" happy as well. My .02

I'm okay with the exterior changes but I'm still a bit taken back by the interior....its a big change towards more luxury. I'm a bit concerned that with PDK, interior refinements and more new technology that we don't get further disconnected form the sport's car experience, if you know what I mean.......

Looks better on video. I still say leave the PORSCHE lettering on the rear end and delete the specific model designation (too busy with all of it). I was taken aback by the rear lights as well at first, but when you're running LEDs they can take a lot more liberties with the shape than before.
