new car, what seats, please help

Hello All, I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on a 12 turbo S coupe. I found a car that I really like with the sport adaptive seats and I am getting a very good deal on it and big bucks for my trade but it is out of state.

My local dealer found out what I was doing and very quickly offered me a deal that would be very hard to refuse on a car he has on the truck heading in next week. The car has all that I want except it has the 12 way ventilated seats.

South TX is hot and I am sure I would enjoy the AC seats but I thought I might end up tracking the car so the sport adaptive seem to make more sense. Not to mention, I hear that is one of the few features you always want to make sure your turbo or S has for resale and overall value.

Who has sat in or owned both? Does anyone regret having gone with one and not the other? If so why? I may lease the car so in the end resale might not matter.

Thanks very much!

If you are a "big" person then you might not like the adaptive seats. They will be to tight. I am 6'4" and 220 lbs and I like them. If you track your car then you will really like them. Cooled seats never really work all that great in most cars because all it is, is a fan blowing cabin air through the seat. Some MFGs will put a duct there so it will blow cooler. I have no idea what Porsche does.

I am not so sure the ventilated seats would hurt resale value....considering half the new Turbos sold have the ventilated seats.

Seats

I had a 2009 TT with the adaptive seats, and I hated them. I am a 220lb guy so that might be the issue. I now have a 2011 S with the Sport seats, much better, a lot firmer. My suggestion is go the the lot and seat in some new or used cars with both of the seats and decide for yourself

I own an 11 tts with sport adaptive seats, and they are great. I am 180 lbs and see no issues with them at all. The ventilated seats just never really did anything for me, and had them in other cars and hardly used them. My wife loves them.

Thanks for all the replys! I agree about the ac seats not working well in the past. My wife drove a 03 Navigator with them and they really never worked well at all. However, I have driven several porsche loaner cars when one of mine is in service and they are pretty awsome and you really feel that cold blast of ac on your back and seat.

It is looking like everything is lining up that I may end up with the 10 out of 10 for me with the adaptive sport seats, keeping my fingers crossed. I am 6'2" and 198lb with 34 waist. I fit just nice and snug in my Euro gt3 bucket seats and those are pretty narrow imo.

Adaptives were a deal breaker for me, it had to have those if nothing else. 12 ways are common on dealer spec cars, it's actually hard to find adaptives in an S.

Adaptive seats are really body hugging with great side bolsters - only option you may loose is ventilation.

Cheers,

Question for TT surgeon...Why do most dealer spec cars have the sports seats vs adaptive.I bought my TTS from the dealer and it did have the sport seats to.If you don't track the car do you feel the sports seats are good just for spirited driving? Also why wouldn't they put the adaptives in all Turbos.Thanks...

They have studied the buyer demographics, really only enthusiasts order things like AS, LSD, etc. They can attract more potential new buyers with the generic 12 way seats. Everyone can fit the 12 way, not so with AS.
The 12 ways are just fine, AS are better in every respect.
Why not all turbos? Because they can stick it to you as an option, the enthusiasts tax.
I just like the way they plant you in spirited driving or even mundane DD. They are 'tight' at the track.

Really struggling hear because like most comments, the adaptive sport seats were also a deal breaker for me. They are the only aspect of the car that is coming in that are not what I wanted. Otherwise it appears to be a very sweet deal in every regard such as big discount of msrp, big money on my trade which is a 08 cayeene tt, if I lease there is a special zero sales tax scenario only available in TX.

Blk/Blk car with tons of leather options and yellow dev stitching all over. Accountant says I can write off some 7-9k per year for the 36 mos of lease. UHGGG!

There are other cars out there that are just as nice and with the sport adaptive seats but the zero tax thing does not exist so I would end up buying the car instead of leasing and it just seems like leasing is the way to go since I can write it off as a business car.

The car comes in next week so I will make the final decision when I drive it. The other concession is that I have the 03 tt in avatar and it has Euro gt3 buckets seats with 6pt, so it is not like I don't have a car with seats that will keep me planted.

I went through the same thing when we got out Turbo S. We ended up with the ventilated seats, mainly because we got a good deal on the car. I think they are not too bad. The adaptives would be better for the track but are you really going to seriously track this car over your other ones? The surface of the ventilated seats is somewhat rough and I think that helps to hold one in place.

If you are going to lease the car you are lucky because you will not need to consider what the seats will do to the resale value.

good luck.

Do the ventilated seats really hurt resale value that much.Seems strange because at least half the Turbo S's have ventilated seats. How much could you lose in resale ....1000 to 1500 hundred dollars.Sometimes I think it would be easier to sell with the sport ventilated seats..
