I lease my SUV (write off) but paid cash for my Porsche. Wonder if a $2500 lease might raise an eyebrow or two...?

Update is that I believe if I get the car that is a 10 out of 10, chances are really good I will want to keep her for over the 3 year lease time. I think I will regret going with the 9 out of 10 car even though the lease and payment and write off and zero tax thing are all great.

I would rather go with the acceptable deal for the right car than the right deal for the acceptable car. I put a deposit down on my 10 out of 10 and I am looking at 2.9% for 60 or 3.9% for 72 with no cash down other than my 9-10k trade equity.

I will save around 3k in tax credit by trading and I was getting 12k off this car vs 10k off the local car I would lease. Now deciding if I want to ship trade up to Ohio or driver her up and drive my new S back.

I can do good break in on the drive back from Ohio

PS-accountant basically said there are ways to write off the interest, depreciation, sales tax among other things I forget that make a purchase very close to a lease if structured the right way. She said, only lease if you know you will want to turn the car in after 3 years, buy if you think you will want to buy it at end of 3.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Did you buy from Beachwood Porsche? I am looking at driving up my Cayeene TT trade and driving the new car back or pay 1k to send the trade up and fly up and drive back like you did.

If not beachwood, who did you buy from?

I don't think they were called Beachwood back in late June but I do believe that is what they are called now. Is was called Bedford Porsche back then. I was going to drive my 996 40th edition up there to do a trade but they only offered me $27k. So it would have been a day and a half up there drive plus hotel and the same back. I sold my car to I.Q. Autobuyers here in Houston for $29k and flew up on Southwest. They picked me up at the airport. Drove me to the dealership. Did a test drive. Had a issue with a the belt squealing. They fixed that. Signed papers and then headed home. They also did a crappy detail. The worst issue was the title and tags service. They said they would do it but they were dragging their feet. So I had them FedEx me those funds back and I just did it myself. Also took a while for them to get me the service records and then they were not complete.
So far the car has been great. Very scary to sell my car 2 days before the deal. Fly up to see a car that I only had pics of and a 1 hour phone walk around. The whole way up my wife and I were thinking what F*** have we done. Once I saw the car and drove it all those worries went away. Night and day difference between my 996 and the 997. Handles better, rides better, a lot more quite inside, and the POWER is awesome. Very easy to hit triples in the car while driving in Mexico.
Would I do it again. Hell yes!! Sad part is I called my dealer and emailed my dealer here in Houston and told them what I wanted. Not looking for. Wanted. All I got back was???? Crickets!!
