1999/3.4/996 converted to 2012/3.8TTs/997

Hi everynone! I own a 1999, 996. I did an exterior conversion to a 997 Gt3RS, two years ago. Now I have a brand new 2012 engine ( 997 TTs, 3.8L )which I plan to start installing in my car instead of the 3.4!! Ill also change, new: transmission (PDK) , brain, exhaust, flywheel, clutch, axles, ignition brain, fuel pump, fuel tank, etc... Im located in South America and purchasing a brand new 2012 TTs car is imposible. This way Ill have the same for less! Anyone has made this conversion? any ideas or advice?

Go for a manual gearbox, convert the engine for manual throttle and use MoTec. Your '99 does not have ( unless it's a C4 ) E-gas, so to use turbo's Motronic you'll need to install E-gas. Which requires CAN-bus wiring...and new instrument panel and HVAC.
With MoTec ( or similar ) standalone you'l have lot less electrical problems. Mechanically it's quite straight-forward job.
Been there, done that, should get the T-shirt...

Good luck trying to get the MoTec to work on a DFI turbo engine and good luck getting it tuned for all the different operating modes of the DFI engine

IMHO, stock TTS ECU, full wiring harness, pedal box, instrument cluster, alarm module should work. The only question is whether the TTS engine will run with a manual gearbox, and all this will involve in terms of mods to flywheel/bellhousing/clutch.

My bad, read the original mail too fast...the new DFI engine...good luck... The engine will not mate with previous ( Mezger engine ) manual gearbox, so PDK has to be used and there's a lot to be changed in electronics.
