BMC air filter / MAF sensor

I just got a new BMC filter but have read that the oil on the filter can cause some problems with your MAF sensor. Would it be a good idea to wash the filter first removing some of the oil to prevent this. Or just install it and should be fine ??

Thanks for any advice

Factory oiled filters are usually not the ones causing problems.

I have had BMC filters in my 997.1TT and GT2 without any issues. Do not wash the oil off. If you do it will not filter very well at all.

There were some possible issues with some of the K&Ns being over oiled but I haven't heard of any issues with the BMCs.

I have a BMC, used it for a few weeks. My butt dyno thought it lost low end power, your results may vary. I dont think access to air becomes a problem until you swap out the factory turbos so all your doing is ingesting more dirt for the sake of some added intake noises which may or may not be a good thing depending on your ears.

Just dont oil it to clean it, throw it away when dirty (or ebay it to a brave soul) and get a new one. Most problems seem to occur from user over oiling and not from factory.
